The secret in the DLC

Has anyone beaten the secret boss Bernard yet? I'm curious what his final phases are and if anything happens when you beat him.

Speaking of which why did the Gamebakers not bother to model or texture Bernard? I feel like if you're going to charge 4 dollars for the DLC you should at least finish the secret boss for us

then who is Bernard a reference to? im pretty sure it'd be an in-house joke to a dev or person of some kind

This is just a shot in the dark, but maybe since the artwork unlocked after you beat him is that of The Voice & Rider, Bernard may be the real name of one of them. Though I highly doubt Rider would have a real name being what he is.

Bernard and the arena we fight him in was originally a testing room for the bosses capable of using all animation sets without difficulty afaik, as when you watch the tutorials in the how to play section you'll see it in the background against the Chain
they probably just decided to throw together a bunch of advanced animations from every boss phase and put them into a single phase for each boss and ship it as a bonus

srsly though, i through all the characters were named after ancient greek sorta things, based on when the Flame says "For Seta, for Emon, for Dimes, for the ones who fell."

ive spent over 4 hours now flat trying to beat bernard, and the closest to winning ive got it a quarter of the way through the final phase

It just takes a lot of time, you'll get there eventually, don't worry about it.

And you can fight both only in Practice mode, right?

It's actually another mode dedicated to the DLC but it's the same as Practice mode yeah.
