Controllable with D-Pad?

Most important question for me, is the character controllable with the D-Pad or is this one of these annoying 2D games which can only be used with the analog stick?

I want to play it on PS5, so unfortunatelly i dont have access ro Steam input.

Not totally certain, then. I think the devs have enough respect for 2D games to enable d-pad control by default, but they could also decide that the whip swinging mechanic works better with stick controls and force it for that reason.
