No sound (Possible solution added)
Tried verifying files and installing the OpenAl from the redist. folder, and running as admin. Also disabled my SLI. Using a Creative X-Fi MB2 software solution on a Windows 7 x64 machine.

edit: Seems to affect users with Creative soundcards or other soundcards bundled with their own OpenAL versions.

If you're getting no audio can you please try opting in to the beta called "audio" on Steam and tell me if it helps. (BuildID 984621) Thanks

Possible (community) solution:

Download openal-soft-1.17.2-bin.zip from this site [kcat.strangesoft.net]

You just need the bin folder from the zip.

in a new window:
Overwrite C:\Windows\System32\OpenAL32.dll with Win64/soft_oal.dll (rename soft_oal.dll)

Then overwrite C:\Windows\SysWOW64\OpenAL32.dll with Win32/soft_oal.dll

Much cleaner method found by ShinAli. Simply copy Win32/soft_oal.dll from the bin folder in the zip, and copy it to Devil Daggers root directory (../steam/steamapps/common/devildaggers/). Then rename the soft_oal.dll to OpenAL32.dll.

Found the solution through a reddit thread reddit PSA about OpenAL

Same problem here but with a SBZ sound card. No sound makes the game a no for me.

that's interesting cause I have the Creative X-Fi MB2 software solution that I normally use. But I did try running it on the onboard with all the Creative stuff disabled.

I got a SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Card and also get no sound, which makes it pretty unplayable. I imagine getting stereo sound cues would help a lot with avoiding enemies you can't see.

I have a Sound Blaster Z card that also doesn't seem to work with the game. The integrated sound card on my ASUS motherboard is fine, though.

Updated post with a solution that worked for me. I now got sound in the game even when using my Creative stuff.

Frggin' excellent work, that restored sound for me on my sound card as well! Hugely appreciated.

The soft_oal fix worked for me as well. Thanks for digging that up.

I also had this problem on my SB X-Fi, fix in the OP worked. Thanks!

Tried this, game doesn't even launch now. Restarted Steam and everything, nothing. Followed this to the letter, no mistakes.
Unfortunately, I'll have to duck out and refund for now. Shame. Looked fun.
Maybe when the game functions from the getgo without having to muck around with system files in order to get any sound at all, yes?
