whats with the leveling system
to my understanding, leveling just increases your stats CAP and not the stat itself, while food increases stats...

but thats a bit redundant... money in itself is like xp, got to grind the cash to get the stats, but you got to grind for exp to be allowed to grind for cash to get the stats?

True, a bit odd. It does allow you to choose what to invest in first, though. And this may be the first time in any (non-survival) game where food has actually been useful. I can get behind it for that reason alone.

indeed, its really neat to have to search around to find what you want, (though tooltips in the shop itself would be very nice)

though it is a bit annoying to risk your wallet when shopping around. every time you get hit it costs money XD

Yeah, they should at least show all of the effects at once, so I don't have to wait for the text to print out every single time, just to see what happened.

In the original, there was no levelling, just food you used to increase stats. However, that led to the ability of the player to simply grind stats and then steamroll the game without the AI ever standing a chance. What I get from it, is that the level system was implemented to prevent things like that. You still have to buy food like in the original game to raise your stats, but you can't just power level to the strongest character possible at the beginning of the game unless you want to do a good deal of grinding for an incredibly long amount of time.

If you're fighting and doing well, you are getting XP, if you're getting XP you're getting levels. If you're getting levels you're fighting a bunch of dudes and getting money. I don't think the system works against itself at all personally. It's like if in a more traditional RPG if you lost a fight you lost money so you couldn't buy new gear immediately and had to work to get the new sword that let you do tons of damage. In this instance the sword is just replaced with food for stats.
