It isn't made in Flash again, is it?
Title. Also, can one play this without having played 1&2?

Tweet from devs Amanita Design says the engine is a "modified Starling Framework".

And I wouldn't think that it would matter at all if you hadn't played 1 and 2...though I suppose there might be some reference or nod to the earlier games that's there just for fun.

Also, am assuming you're asking about Flash because of lost saved games, like would happen in Machinarium. I would assume that wouldn't be an issue with Samorost 3, as Botanicula came after Machinarium, and that had no save issues, I believe.
Or maybe you have a concern that there might be a black border around the screen, again like in Machinarium, but all screenshots I've seen of the dev's computers running the game show no border at all.

That's too bad. Unfortunately, Flash has a lot more issues so I try to avoid games that use it.

Thanks for the reply though!

hey guys,
the game runs in Air. don't worry about saves, black borders or anything else. it's all fixed and the game works great on almost any non-prehistoric computer and on any screen resolution. it's also more convenient than unity or any other "heavy engine" as it starts instantly and you can easily go to window mode just by pressing Esc and then go again full-screen anytime.

as for the other question about the first two episodes from Samorost series, Samorost 3 is completely independent game so you don't have to play Samorost 1 or 2 at all. the first two are very old, small games with medicore game design. Samorost 3 is much bigger (in fact, significantly bigger than Machinarium) with the story which is not connected with previous titles.

Flash/AIR also makes Linux/SteamOS support notoriously difficult.
Still AIR runs like arse compared to Unity. :P
And if you don't do similar crap like with Botanicula (offering preorders beforehand and on release, set up a Humble Bundle with more extras for less money), then I'll probably buy it in the first week. :)

:-( Hoping for Linux support someday. Realistically, I'll probably pick this up on Android since I don't use Windows or Mac OS X. (based on this tweet about Android support: https://twitter.com/Amanita_Design/status/679327748121317376 )

You don't need to play Samorost 1 or 2, but you should at least play Samorost 1. It's available free in your browser from Amanita Design at amanita-design.net/samorost-1/

I feel like I'm the only person who's really excited about this.

You are not, but I guess we are few atm. We'll see at launch.

Why is this the topic to talk about all the Samorost 3 hype? It's called "It isn't made in Flash again, is it?"! How less excited can you get?
flesk Jan 29, 2016 @ 7:56am
There is a thread called "Excited" too, but I think most people in this thread expect the game to be great and are disappointed that they might not be able to play it.

I think based on the system requirments, almost anyone can run it. My rig is old, single core, AMD Sempron LE-1300 2.3 ghz CPU, but based on system specs, 1.7 ghz dual core min, so even my rig can prolly run it, since i can run all the other titles they made, Samorost 1, 2, Botanicula, Machinarium, etc. Like the developer said, as long as its not ancient... so even with Flash and AIR being used , i feel it will be fine, the devlopers know how to bug test and get games to run smooth.

You need an intel integrated GPU so, i mean its not that big of a game in techical specifications, so i think people should be fine.
