Stuck on pollination puzzle

The old man wants a sad onion for his tea pot. I've managed to free the bee in the cave with the potatoes and I've got a yellow seed that looks like a deflated balloon and two red seeds that look like light bulbs. And one red flower near the poppy seed spaceship.

I've looked at the hint book for this but still doesn't make any sense.

You're missing a seed. Seeds can be replanted so you can try combining them again. If you end up losing one type, they'll regrow where you found them.

Well now I've got three "A" seeds. I think I've broken the game as it does not seem to be possible to reset the plants.

Which parrots? I can only plant seeds on the screen with the spaceship. To the left screen where I got the spikey seed from there aren't any more seeds.

Yup, it's a bug or very poorly designed. I quit yesterday, come back to it today and a spikey seed as grown where the old tea man is and a yellow deflated balloon seed has grown where the various creatures are below. This wasn't happening yesterday - the plants remained "dead".

I have to say, to have to quit and reload just so these grow back is f'ing stupid. One of the worst puzzles I've ever encountered.

I did have the seed by the tea maker and the parrots in the trees regrow during gameplay (no quitting and coming back). Not sure why that's not happening for you. :/
Haven't looked at the walkthrough book for this, but I'll look today and see if I can make any sense out of it.
And I'll try to get stuck. If we can confirm it's a bug (and it very well may be), then the developers will fix it. Though I realize it's frustrating in the meantime, soopy.

Edit: The B plant by the tea parrots in the trees should regrow its flower if you don't have that seed and you don't have one of those flowers on the screen with your ship; same thing with either one of the C plants next to the beehive on the lower level.
Also, if it helps, I noticed that the second C plant down on the lower level will only regrow once you've gotten close enough to it. (Hope that makes sense.)

Well , I have the same issue, stuck with 7 B type plants and no way to get the other type of plants back. Also not possible by leaving and returning to this part of the game.

7 yellow B plants? That must've taken some work. Do you have a screenshot? Do you have any more red A plants, or ways to make one?

?? i only got one yellow seed and after that, the right one of the white flowers does not build one. is this ok or do i need to restart?

That white flower should regrow as long as you don't have a white flower seed in your inventory, or a white flower growing in the spots up top. Maybe you're not close enough to the flower for it to regrow. If it's still not growing, you could try quitting and relaunching the game.

tried everything you mentioned. the plant has given me the seed and remains standing there green. on the other place where you put the seeds it works fine.

I didn't know what I was doing at first and lost my A seed. I looked at the hint book and understand what to do, but I'm out of A seeds and no A plant. The B plant has no flower on it, but I'll see if I can get it growing again. Is there a way to restart the level?

I found that a red A flower would grow as long as there was an empty spot for one to grow in. So try having one empty spot and then leave the screen and come back. If that doesn't work, try to have two or three empty spots and then leave and come back...and if even that doesn't work, try quitting the game at that point and then relaunching it.

The B plant by the old tea drinker guy should regrow as long as there are no B plants or seeds anywhere else.

I finally got the weird baby sprout thing and a pot. The animation from the teapot and the wizard show to put it in a bowl, crush it, add something, mix it, then light it to explode. I can't figure out how to do all that. No bowl or anything to mix it with.
