Unable to launch Samorost 3 on my Macbook Pro

Hi, all,

I'm pretty new to Steam and very new to Samorost 3, which looks lovely! Unfortunately I haven't been able to try it out since I bought it yesterday, because it won't launch for me. When I click "Play," I see a small window that says "Preparing to launch Samorost 3" for a brief instant, and then it disappears and nothing happens. (At the same time, the words "Running" and then "Syncing" appear briefly to the right of the game title but almost instantly disappear.) I haven't even gotten to the game's start page yet.

I went through all the steps in "Support" (following the prompts for "The game doesn't start when I try to launch it"), including "Verify Integrity of GameCache." I have a fairly new Mac computer, so I don't think it's a graphics card issue, and I checked to ensure that my Flash Player is up to date.

What am I missing? Why won't the game start? Thanks so much for any guidance you're able to provide!

Have you tried erasing the local content and then redownloading the game?

I have exact same issue. Tried erasing local content and redownloading the game 2 times and it still doesn't work. :(

Just curious as to what version of OS X you're using, Ljud? I'm having a somewhat similar issue under OS X 10.9.5 where after launching the game both Steam and the Dock indicate the game is running, but there is no sound or visuals whatsoever.

Edit: One suggestion you might want to try that works for me, though it would only be a temporary workaround, really: locate where the game is installed on your hard drive and double-click to launch it; the file path is:

Macintosh HD/Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Samorost 3
