Confused while locating the elephant (glowing shard)

Watch out! Spoilers ahead!

Around the beginning area, the glass cracked. Now I'm trying to locate the pink elephant. Rufus has picked up the glass shards. Now, if I move the mouse over various areas then they glow.

However, on many ocassions the areas either don't glow or they glow but the group refuses to move forward. Does anyone know how to solve this thing?

I solved this one. I'm posting it here so that it might help anyone else who gets stuck. You need to follow the elephant's footprints to the middle T section, then back to the broken shards, then to the place where the prof was waiting, then back to the T section, then trace it in the background until it reaches the level, right where that dude was crying.

I also stuck on pink elephant trail at first. Turned out trail must be thoroughly revealed by a shard in all length. In T section with a cactus in middle trail must be revealed at right side till pink area at pipe opening and then carefully followed to left and up. If trail doesn't reveal further, try to repeat following the trail from bottom middle to right in all length again. I succeeded on 6th try.

the problem is that they stuck on T section and don't walk any other
