1. What’s Pre-Release?

   It’s a version of the game with upcoming updates included, but they’ve yet to be fully tested and aren’t ready for full release. This means they may be extra unstable and buggy, and could be updated or break without warning. If you’re okay with that and want to help us test them to get them ready for everyone else on release day, then pre-release is for you!
   
   

2. How do I get Pre-Release builds?

   If you haven’t done so previously, you’ll need to opt-in to the beta program for CHKN called ‘prerelease’. First, go to your Steam library, RIGHT-CLICK/CTRL-CLICK on CHKN, and select “Properties”.
   
   In the pop-up window, click on the “Betas” tab and select the “prerelease” option from the dropdown list.
   
   Now you’re getting the pre-release updates! Any new updates to pre-release are downloaded automatically, just like the regular version of CHKN.
   
   Remember, pre-release updates could include horrible bugs and may sometimes break CHKN. If you ever want to switch back to the regular CHKN releases, just return to this tab and select “NONE - Opt out of all beta programs” instead.
   
   

3. Where are all my saved games on Pre-Release?

   Each branch now has its own SavedGames directory! This will prevent unstable test branches like Pre-Release from breaking/corrupting your saves on the main branch. Woot! So when you load Pre-Release for the first time, you'll have no saved games available. Just start a new game and that save will only be available in the Pre-Release branch, leaving your main branch saves untouched.
   
   Or if you'd like to copy a game from the main branch to Pre-Release for testing, you totally can. Just make sure it's a copy and you're not moving the original! Here are the steps:
   
   
   1. Navigate to the directory where saved games are stored. On Windows, that's usually here (replace "USERNAME" with yours):
      

      C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Katapult\CHKN\SavedGames

   2. Find the directory with the same name as the save you want to copy. Let's say your game was called "AwesomeAdventure". Copy the whole \AwesomeAdventure directory!
      
   3. Now go to the directory for Pre-Release saves. That'd be:
      

      C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Katapult\CHKN\SavedGames_prerelease

   4. Paste!
      
   5. Load CHKN and press "Continue" on the main menu. A copy of AwesomeAdventure should now show up in the list.
   
   This saved game is now a completely separate version that's only available on Pre-Release.
   
   

4. How do I report bugs/give feedback on the Pre-Release build?

   Right here on this Pre-Release board! Just start a new topic with your bug report or feedback.
   
   If you’re making a bug report, remember to let us know as much about what happened as possible and to include your computer specs. Thanks!

It literally is an entire new map and feels like a new game. Don't get me started on the weather. It's gorgeous. I'm still in awe when I look at it. Truly wonderful new additions. Thx Team CHKN. :D

Pre-Release is still available! (We've got another update coming soon, in fact.) What happens when you try to use it? Do you get stuck on a certain screen maybe? Or it's just black? Let us know where you're having problems and we'll help!

its stuck on the first loading screen when i try to open the game i sat there for over an hour waiting and the loading bar didnt move an inch on the pre-release

Can I use cheats in my single player? I tried /Mode Creative... nothing happened :(

if you hit ` (left of 1 key on US keyboard) it will bring down a console. Enter /gamemode creative there to switch to creative. /gamemode adventure to switch back. It could cause some weirdness depending what sort of state the game is in.
