For our teams, it is both an honor and a privilege to revive this legendary title – a game that captured the imagination of one of the earliest generations of gamers and left a lasting impact on computer gaming history.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the original Defender of the Crown. Four decades ago, it stood out as one of the most visually striking and ambitious games of its time. With Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns, our goal is to celebrate that legacy while introducing the world of the game to a new generation of players.

I've been waiting for this nearly my entire life

As a child of the 70s and gamer since then, the Amiga was one of the greatest things that had come along. It had surpassed the Atari and the V20 / C64 in every way. DotC was my favorite game and I've been hoping and praying for a remake before my time on this planet is over. I hope this brings me back to those simpler times when games were made for fun instead of greed. Thank you for making this happen....

Ultrawide support?

Will this game fully support ultrawide resolution without pillarboxing / letterboxing (3440x1440 21:9), outside of retro mode? Would be awesome to play this classic and fully enjoy it on modern hardware. Thanks for any clarification on the subject.

Defender of the Crown II improvements?

The original Amiga version had some gameplay issues that were fixed in all the ports (arguably making either the Commodore 64 or Atari ST versions better) and in Defender of the Crown II for Amiga CD platforms (which was really just the fixes from all the ports brought back to the Amiga, plus voice acting). Is the classic gameplay mode based on the flawed original Amiga version or does it incorporate the improvements of the ports/DOTC II?...
