Uhhhhhhhhh, solstice? Start? Hello?

I completed the game, I deleted the save game, yes the fake one (I quintuple checked), just as every guide has instructed, nothing happens when I restart, just a still of the room Niko wakes up in then it quits to desktop.

So I look up some forums online to see if anything else has experienced something similar, but it seems not, mostly just people who deleted the wrong save file then had to completely start over. But not me, I literally just get stuck on this one screen.

So I launch the game numerous times before I notice there's a "..." option in the menu.

Oh I'm dumb, how could I miss that? I mean no guide I have seen has ever acknowledged this existing but oh well.

I press this option and Niko starts talking to me and offers me a chance to reset the game. Obviously I select yes, that's what I've been trying to do this whole time, and this seems to be the only way to do it.

So, success! It seems I have restarted the game.

...oh, but there's no mention of any of the things that should be happening in a Soltice run.

...the black clover in the mines is not there.

...Ah.

Am I ♥♥♥♥♥♥? Why is starting this process so cryptic to the point where there are no answers as to what my original issue with starting this run was? To the point where in a last ditch effort, the only option I could see in game to start this process baited me into deleting my actual complete save file?

I am so, SO disappointed. It doesn't matter how good a game is when you are locked out of half of its content because of an insistence on, like totally cool, meta mechanics that don't work.

Uhh, you didn't activate solstice. You just reset the game the way to where you play through the original game again. Try it again.

Try what again? Do you have any clue what I did wrong? I checked what I did against youtube step by step, completely clear video walkthroughs and the game should have restarted when I deleted that fake save file in documents/my games/oneshot. It just didn't.

The part where you talked to Niko. that's were you screwed up. Saying yes to resetting the world doesn't actually reset it, but it makes you manually replay the entire game again.
Basically, instead of starting a solstice run you clicked the undo button practically.

But I only did that because the actual solution outlined in every guide on the internet did not work. What I'm asking is prior to choosing the "..." option, what went wrong? Why did the game continue to display the still image of the lit room from the start of the game after deleting the fake save file inserted into my documents/my games/oneshot file?

I am really just trying to understand why THAT did not work, everything after that was just frustrated ranting.

I think I got it. I was playing a post-soltice run because I played this game YEARS ago (It's been so long I literally do not remember the story). I wondered why Niko had weird TV static lines running through them.

I guess you can't do solstice again or something?

That's kind of obnoxious, I just wanted to experience the entire game from scratch because I do not remember what happens.
