The meaning of OneShot (Solstice spoilers)

When you start the Solstice game, you are greeted with "Dedicated to our beloved friend Felix" and there is a picture of a cat, and it says "We miss you". (Incidentally, Niko is also a cat, or at least cat-like).

During your first play through, when you close the game and come back, Niko says everything goes black. Niko can only exist when you are playing. This means the only "reality" in which Niko exists is the one created when we launch the game.

One thing I have noticed a lot of people saying is how much they miss Niko after getting the true ending. The fact that you can never see Niko again, you can only relive the memories, is upsetting.

During the true ending, you see Alula and Calamus, two kids who go to see the gravestone of their mother. They talk to the gravestone as if their mother was still alive.

As the ending draws to a close, you slowly lose everyone you had contact with, as they are taken by the squares. The squares are the memory becoming corrupt, which is effectively erasing people from this "reality", making them be forgotten.

When you finish the game and restart it, you get the "..." option, which allows you to talk with the World Machine. It tells you that you can never see Niko again, because he/she is gone forever, but you can relive the memories.

Ultimately, it's about loss. When you lose someone you love, they aren't gone as long as you remember them. The only "reality" they now exist in is the one created when we remember them. They'll always exist in your memories.

Felix aka Felix0 was a great and amazing guy who made a very good and detailed Fangame of the game OFF (By mortis ghost) called HOME. He unfortunately died in a car crash a long time ago. i knew the guy personally. he's never forgotten. i had no idea he knew the developers of oneshot and seeing this a couple days ago had me in tears. if you want i can link the game if anyone wants to check it out . . .

It also seems that from the page of Felix's account on RMN, he associated himself with a small whitish cat sprite.....which would explain why at the start of Oneshot, you see a cat next to Felix's rememberance

He was actually in the oneshot discord server and was fairly active in it, and, was actually a playtester of oneshot, which is why he is included in that memorial thingy.
