Is sublight 7 triple as fast as sublight 2?
I am not sure if I understand this right.

Not sure what you mean by sublight 2 or 7.
If you mean power allocation, then 33% is normal speed, 0% half speed, 100% double speed.
If you use intermediates values, then something in between. Check the records menu.

If it is like the previous game, then it acts as a multiplier to the normal speed. So a ship with 60 speed and sublight 2 will fly 120 in sublight, while a ship with 20 speed and sublight 7 will fly at 140 in sublight.

It is a pretty neat system that allows bigger ships to be slow and "clunky" while still having fast if not faster travel time.

What I'd like to know is why use the term "Sublight". Does this mean we will have FTL at some point?

I am sure PTE/sublight speed is completely separate from the base speed, in both Spg 2 and Warlords.

As far as I remember (at least in SPG2), this digit stands for delay after PTE activation and the actual speed up
wiredhands Apr 18, 2016 @ 10:32am
yep..in general, takes longer for bigger ships to charge up to enter PTE/sublight speed, which is what the number represents

yes, we'll probably get 1 time use jumpengines like in SPG2

That is correct, the base sublight or PTE speed is 200 (with 100% power allocation to speed), but it can go higher than that with speed boosts and engine enhancement.

That would be awesome. I hope it it's not just jump gates or loading screens, but maybe equipment you either buy per charge, or has a cool down. Being able to still control the ship at faster than light speeds would be so incredibly epic; watching planets come into view and seeing space time bend, ah glorious.

Well, seems like I was completely wrong with what I said xD

Ah you mean the T-Drives? That would work, but I'm hoping for something that is done in real time. I.E. no loading screen. :steamhappy:

Devs have already confirmed T-Drives and T-Gates and appear to be considering warp drives (effectively the blueprint reuseable T-Drive from SPG2). I doubt they'll do non-loading screen FTL. Everything planned seems to be point and click on the map, or infrastructure based, which is honestly fine by me.

Wait, what? There is a really a reuseable T-Drive blueprint in SPG2? Can it be found through normal blueprint farming and what is the best way to get it?

Down in the equipment section. Not actually got one myself, but it sound cool as hell so I'll probably keep blueprint farming until I track one down. :steamhappy:

The reusable T-drive is in the game files, but it does not work, so was not made to public release.
