I simply can't control the ship :(
...is there anyway to reduce input sensitivity for both controller sticks before I get pulled for drunken driving?

I have had to refund...I can't even follow the ship from the very start. It's me, not you - best of luck for the future :)

Sorry to hear you had issues flying, One thing I notice your using a controller. For the life of me I can ont fly this way either. I find KBoard and Mouse is excellent though for reference, once you get the controls learnt its second nature.

Best of luck to you :steamhappy:

Thank you for this.

My controller is always plugged in and the game responded, so I just started using it. Anyway, i unplugged the controller and used keyb/m - yup, much better. Cancelled refund :)

Cheers :)

Welp, first attempt with keyboard and mouse was an uncontrollable mess. Also considering a refund straight out of the box. WTH is going on?

Or to put it another way, how do I learn this, since however I'm set up the usual QWEASD + mouse is insane level difficulty...

Hello Alan,

I been playing Mouse+Keyboard since spg1 days.

I use Turret mode (V Key selects Turret Mode) as prefered viewpoint and steer the ship with WSAD (QE-Roll) whilst the mouse allows me to rotate around my ship in 360 degree's (Space bar activates rotation on/off - When off can CLick and drag to rotate around ship as well) . Takes a little practice to get used to but it works well once gotten used to.

Yes turret mode makes a big difference. The game is still a tadge twitchy for me, but I am getting the hang of it now.

We also recommend turret view camera. Maybe a bit awkward at first, but this camera offers best possible control of ship and various weapon placements. We didn't want to limit the motion in any direction, and wanted to allow players full control over all weapon turrets (regardless of firing arc) at the same time. For example, is ship gets behind you, we didn't want to force players to rotate huge, slow ship and desperately try to keep target in front of them. This way you rotate the camera and continue firing with your rear mounted turrets. We felt it will better preserve the feeling of capital ship design even in the thick of battle. I do understand it is not very usual approach, and demands some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, should be very helpful...

I agree on turret mode being the go-to for combat [not being required to turn the hull means you can shield-twist - my shameless copy of MWO's torso-twisting D: - and still be able to see what is going on and respond] and other evironment interactions [still being able to interact while sucking at parking your galactic 69 Mustang].

I'm still trying to find a setup for comfy cruising with my X52, just feels too good to give it up. I hope the in-game mapping will at some point include mapping for controller input in a secondary layer (possibly an option toggling off the auto-profile), this would certainly deal with the lack of profiles for various products.

I am glad this posts exists :D
i am new to the game and was wondering what people preferred as far as controller or KB. So far i like KNmouse better mainly because i can controll my mouse sensitivity AND i have an MMO mouse which makes it easier to use the items :D

If you do decide to try a controller at least for some part of the game (I'm using a flight stick for exploration and general moving about) I sugest mapping it via Steam>Settings>Controller>GeneralControllerSettings, that way you'll be able to remap it however you like, even in-game if you enable the overlay in Steam>Settings>InGame.

Just find out what type of controller profile the game chose for you first so you have a base to do the basic mapping.

I have some extra buttons on my mouse, but I am still umming awwing about what to map where - so far I have only mapped heavy weapons and cloak.

Am curious what others do?

I have a gamepad, but this game is much easier to play with M&K.

I played a lot last night after being satisfied with my button set up. The thing that i am trying to get used to now is when to be and when NOT to be in turret mode :D

Besides weapons and cloaking I find it useful to have at hand:
Target Nearest / Mark Target / Fire at Will
Power to Engines / Shields / Weapons
