Boarding chances absurds
Honestly, I dont even know what to think about it.

I was capturing ships fine until I reached battleships phase. Since then, it gone worse and worse but now game is clearly playing dumb with me.

While doing random missions I was flying battleship and trying to capture enemy dread. It was annoying a bit but passable, with 50% chances usually and only once chance since after failed boarding, I couldnt try again because "HURR DURR BIOMETRIC SHIELDS". Bigger class so I can understand. But what I DONT understand is how that now flying as captured dread I have SAME stamina of soldiers (69) despite having bigger class and as same class dread, I get like 20% chance or less with 40 or so stamina remaining. Usually 5% due to 20 or so stamina. FIVE. This is completely anti-logical! Within my level 26 I have all perks I could get so far (expect of third one unlocked via pillaging) and yet I cant even capture smae class ships!

What the hell Im missing here?

Your ship class is (nearly) meaningless for boarding.
It is all about perks, research, and damaging the ship hull (I guess that is how you got those 50%+ numbers).
Its not meaningless, when I was switching for bigger classes, soldiers stamina was increasing. Until for some reason it stopped now.

You get what, 1 point per class, sometimes 2 ? This is a marginal.
With all perks and techs I can capture a Carrier with a Frigate.
Then how I cant capture Dread with Dread when I have all perks from basic tree of boarding, missing only third negotations and third unlock one, plus basic research done (since I would have to leave PC to idle for 24h to afford second level of boarding research)? Keeping enemy hull around 10%?

This is quite a good example of the importance of techs over ship size...

Watanabe III's or the researched Halo series tech tree/enhancement for your transporter. Buff all you can of Boarding Training, Boarding Armor, Boarding Angel, and Negotiations Perks. Sometimes, these all work together to negate the effects of the RNGesus puking in your lap....figureatively....

Depending on your own weapons loadout, shielding, and etc. - try bringing the ship-to-capture's hull down to near 5%, prior to launching your away team, probably spamming shield boosters and damage enhancers and repair bots all the while.....oh my!

Yes, you can increase your chances if you significantly bring down enemy's hull.

Good to know I usually board ships at full hull :steamfacepalm:

No problems capturing ships most of the time - I just bring down hulls to below 10 percent and have most of the boarding abilities.

If you want to be a great boarder - you are going to have to invest in alot of boarding skills.

You get 2 endurance per ship class you upgrade from, Titans have the most and can reach a maximum of 89 endurance, carriers are 2nd at 87 and dreads at 85.
The cheese way to capture ships is spam transport and retreat on a group of ships until you get one that has the med bay next to the weapons systems.
When capturing dreads/carriers I ususally find them in groups so I spam until I get the best med bay location, If all fail then just retreat marines and move on. As long as you retreat them immediately after transport, your marines wont lose any endurance and theirs no cool down.

Hey I took a destroyer with 26% chance and sold it for more than a million. It's a very fast way to make money, if it were easier it would break the game, every other way of making money would become pretty much pointless IMO.

Upgrade boarding skills > choose a lower tier ship for better chances of boarding > bring down the ship's hull > board the ship > forget the pillaging and focus on invading > ??? > success

Repeat! :B

Nice ;)

But there should be a few seconds recovery cooldown after you retreat troops that is shorter than recovery period after successful(or unsuccessful) boarding operation.

Also, I am not entirely sure about percentage but I think I set hull damage leniency to provide maximum benefits when under 20% hp so there is no need to crunch it as low as possible and the benefits given are very marginal on early ship boardings but quite efficient in late game on battleship+. If you decide to damage ship hull on the last phase you can watch the success percentage raise as you damage it.
