Give me a Run Down on Capturing Ships
Im having some trouble capturing a new ship.. well a better ship. I can capture other gunships ok, but Im trying to capture a corvette or something better.

So can you guys give me a proper run down on how to do this.

First off I have upgraded my transporter with the watanabe II upgrade. It gives 25% trooper readiness regen and 1 trooper endurance.

What do the trooper stats mean and how do they affect ship capture?

At what point should I deploy troops to board a ship? At the beginning of the fight, or when the target ship is near defeat?

What are some other stats I should try to increase to better my chances of capturing a ship?

Are there any weapon stats I should look for that will somehow make a ship easier to cap?

What do all the stats on the hud mean when capturing a ship? I mean the ones on the actual buttons to advance, retreat, or pillage? And the little counter at the top right of the hud?

Does it improve chances of capture to pillage any of the ships systems before getting onto the bridge? For instance if I were to pillage weapons would they realize they have no chance of winning and surrender?

Capturing rely mainly on two factors, the endurance of your troops (seen on top) and the target size.
You *must* improve endurance to get larger ships, by investing into boarding perks and research.

Damaging the ship hull before boarding helps a small bit.
Pillage costs endurance and thus final capture chance, but weaken and loot the target if you actually want to destroy it.

Thanks for the response. What does the Readiness Regeneration stat do and how does that affect ship capping?

It affects how quickly endurance recovers after boarding.

A small tip, only capture ships that are of your same class or smaller. There's a tiny chance you maybe lucky enough to grab a bigger ship, but mostly it's time wasted.

It is perfectly doable to capture larger ships if you have enough endurance.

I am trying to get the achievement for capturing a destroyer and pillaging every compartment. I get most of the way but the away team keeps retreating. I am in a dreadnought. The first time I tried, the ship started firing at me after the team retreated. I tried to weaken it, but it blew up. The last time it blew up after the team retreated.

The last 2 times, I made it to the command deck, but it said the ship cannot be captured or something like that.

As I said, it is a matter of endurance. Get more boarding perks or research.

I've already maxed out my research and only have 2 out of 4 of the locked perks to go.
