With X you should be able to select the target and then open the context menu by pressing the Y button (the menu looks like a circle). After you find an option to scan (should be on the upper right side), press the button A and you should begin scanning the object.
Keep in mind that you won't be able to perform all actions on all objects, such as scanning or hailing certain objects.
thank you for your feedback! That's what I thought, but for an unknown reason these buttons do not interact with the game....
I can move camera, spaceship, etc... but the buttons do no launch the scan! I manage to open the pocket menu with the trigger, I move on the scan option but never manage to launch it ( whereas with the mouse, it works)!
My controller is a white bluetooth Xbox controller (works fine with other games...), so is there something I must update, or hange in some settings to make it work properly?
Thanks in adavnce for your feedback, I am so frustrated right now not to be able to play SGW!
There could be a number of issues causing your problem with the controls. Your drivers might be outdated so try updating those first. There also might be some piece of software in the background blocking your inputs. I'd also advise you, if you can, to try using a different controller on the same PC and to try using your controller on a different PC to see if that problem still occurs. From there, it could be a bit easier to narrow down the problem.
I tried to connect my controller with the micro USB wire, and it worked as soon as I kept it wired....
When I tried to restart the game and play in bluetooth mode, I felt again on the same issue as described (most of keys do not respond, I can select a new game but I cannot launch it except if I do it with the mouse!).
It drives me crazy!
I would suggest looking at this forum thread on official Microsoft forums. It seems that Kai Almighty has a solution that works (going to the "Add device" option in Control Panel): https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/xbox-one-controller-wont-connect-via-bluetooth-but/ac4fefad-dbf5-4d6e-9ce3-05da6b0ac732
