Do i need to play Starpoint Gemini 2 before playing Warlords?

Is it recommended that i play SPG 2 before jumping into warlords? are there things like story elements that can be better explained within Warlords if i played SPG 2 first? I just have this weird obsession where i won't play games like Witcher 3 unless i've played witcher 1 or 2 first, idk why but i guess it's just OCD.

No, unless you want to learn some extra lore from the previous game. But its not necessary to play SPG 2 prior.

Exactly what Tanvaras said. SPG1, SPG2 and Warlords do have a continuous story, but it is still rather independent. If you want, you can read highlights of previous events on wikipedia and our forums...
