Just a lil bit of advice, you can always adjust the ship's power during combat.
Why halberd though? It has the least guns out of all dreds, a seriously poor hull, poor battery power, core, eetc. What is there to make it good?

Again it's an opinion with a bit of stats backup.
Magistrate is a good all rounder if you do no mind having a blind spot at the rear.
Halberd is popular because of the shields and coverage, but it is not the most powerful.
play the dread you like the most by the looks and adapt you play style and strategy
I will forward this to our ship designer so he can jump out of the window.
I LOVE the appearance of the outerlands/syndicate line of ships, but they all have terribad firing arcs. It's very sad :(
Don't tell him to do that on my account - I love that ship! Got it on a 7% boarding action roll, and it's been my main ship since about 2/3 the way through the campaign.
