choosing a ship?

I'm given the choice of around 8 or whatever ships at the start of my game but there's no information given about them other than a thumbnail of what they look like. Is there any source of information about what the ships are like or what they're good at or is it just cosmetic?

This wiki should include all starter-ships. But not all ships, which are currently in game... It is outdated. The ships also differ in turret amount and turret location. That is not listed in the wiki...

Well, considering that you're going to be out of that ship and into an all round better one about 30 minutes later, it might as well be cosmetic.
Every minute you spend on getting yourself informed on the intricacies of gunships is a minute wasted.

Actually it appears to be missing at least 2. The pegasus and reek.

Wiki is missing some ships... like 25 of them xD
Choose the one you like and don't worry about it to much, there are differences between them but
