Activating T-gates

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything on how to activate and inactive t-gate.

I've controlled two in my sectors. One of them seemed to self-activate after awhile, I don't remember doing anything to make this happen, but I could have. The second one at Heeland has been inactive since I captured the planet many weeks ago. Is there a specific action/mission to repair/activate it? In general how is t-gate activation supposed to work?

If you control the zone, you should have a civilian task for it.

You need to research Hyperspace Torrent Gate. Once that is done, as Geek says you will be able to send a civiilan fleet to activate it. You'll also then be able to contruct a T-gate on top of a wormhole in any area you control.

I haven't noticed the task pop up, but I'll keep an eye out for it now that I know to look for it.
