You can also build fleets and it has a more robust "RTS/4x" side than SPG2 had. It's also much larger, just in terms of playable space.
Both are great games, similar in many ways since Warlords is teh 3rd incarnation of the game. In which game is better, well I would have to say Warlords since it has a lot more features many of us wanted after playing the previous games.
But in saying so, both games are excellent and provide many hours of enjoyment. But Warlords is truly a great 3rd installment which any SPG 2 player who enjoyed the game should add to their games list. It has a lot more content which was asked for from the community and many new features which SPG 2 could not do due to game engine limitations.
Main things I like in Warlords;
New campaign - whats no to like there!!!
Conquest - Taking control of different sectors of the map - love it!
Boarding (New system in Warlords) is very well done.
Combat, its been ramped up somehere which I prefer.
and most other features which were in SPG 2 and now tweaked ni Warlords.
Thank you. :) You have plenty of time until Warlords.
Origins DLC itself should add about 60+ hours of gameplay. :)
