Cosmic Ocean
Guys, I am malding so bad rn. I have over 300 hours in this god forsaken game, and my goal is to beat CO. My pb is only 7-34, and I only get to CO maybe every 5-10 runs. Can you give me some advice? I usually go volcana and temple for vlad's and compas+elixir (I get lost easily, so compas really helps in CO). I know how to skip tiamat so I have the ankh, but it doesn't really matter much since most of deaths cause you to lose your backpack and it's gg regardless. I really struggle with temple, jungle (in CO) and sometimes sunken. Pls help, game sucks

The thing I found most helpful was probably doing low% runs with pets, they are pretty fast to do and are a really good way to just get practice in for the different zones and general movement and feel of the game. Can even use shortcuts if you feel like you're struggling with any world in particular.

CO is mostly just an endurance test so if you've gotten to 7-34 already you are generally speaking good enough to make it to 7-99, it's just a question of staying focused long enough to do it. So first thing is probably to make sure you do things that keep you concentrated for most of the run, for me it me it's mostly a question of motivation but probably need to work that one out yourself.

For routes I say just do what you feel most comfortable with, everything is viable for first time completions. We even have some mad lads that prefer doing CO runs with Anubis' scepter.

Jungle, sunken and dwellings can all be pretty mazelike in co so saving bubbles that are on the outer edges or in big open areas can help if you remember where they are.

For jungle: Can dodge Witch doctor attack by taking damage from something else, be it bumping into thorns or enemies. Bombs serve as good emergency projectiles for stunning them aswell. Looping is generally safe just don't get to close to the edge in case of doctors or tiki's.

For sunken: Shouldn't be too bad except for being annoying to navigate and arrow traps, try to stay out of loop and if you do loop spam whip for random chance of deflecting arrows.

For temple: Try to avoid crocs at all cost if you can, sticking a double paste bomb on them will kill them. Sorceresses are probably the most annoying enemy in the game imo, try not to over commit and be patient in waiting for good opportunities to strike since their attacks will knock you into things that are basically guaranteed to instakill you.

General co advice is that you don't have to fight/kill most enemies, most of them can just safely be ignored and usually just put you at more risk if you do try to kill them and mess up inputs.
Waiting for jelly to come to you is also a pretty good strategy, gives you a good idea on where the exit is and lessens the chance of randomly bumping into it in a sticky situation.
Navigating downwards instead of upwards is also generally speaking safer in most areas.

Thank you for your advice! I think I'll try some low% runs since I overly rely on items. I do feel somewhat comfortable in CO, but I don't get to it in most of my runs, which I feel like I should be by now.
Also it's a matter of my temper sadly. When I'm calm and chill, I am playing really well. But a few dropped inputs at the wrong time, a few random hits, a death out of nowhere - and I get very frustrated, and the more I play while frustrated - the more I miss, and the more I get mad and so on. But at the same time - I feel like if I play like 1 run a day and call it there, I'll never beat CO, because it'll take me absolutely forever.

Tough call to make for sure, could always try doing fewer runs per day for a bit and see if it feels like you play more consistent. Trying out the daily and seeing if that helps reseting mentally might also be an idea.

If you can start getting to CO consistently I'm sure you'll be beating it in no time :winter2019happyyul:

My PB is closer to 7-70, and I used to do CO a lot before getting bored of the whole thing and starting to favor hard mode speed runs for my dailies instead, but I'll just share what I can... first, Vlad's Cape is king. It's safer in too many ways and lack of mobility is almost never what determines life or death for me in CO runs.

I'd say the biggest thing you need to learn is to not be too stingy with your bombs. See a mummy cat? Explode. See a witch doctor? Explode. See a croc-man? Double-sticky-explode. Dwelling too cramped? Explode. Not enough bombs? You should have brought clone gun to waddler and cloned that bomb/rope sack from the final challenge. Can't do it every time, but you can do it most of the time. For that reason, I think you should favor Tide Pool over Temple. Compass probably seems nice and all, but it's usually better to just make mapping out the level before you start popping orbs part of your process. The elixir is cool and all, but I almost never die to lack of health. It's almost always some form of instant kill that gets me in CO.

My pb is 7-78 now :3 I would've beaten it that try, I'm sure of it, but got killes by neobab bs, which is a bit sad. But after playing around a bit with routes and stuff - I can get to co through temple like once every 4 runs or so. Through tidepool I'd say my co % is close to 90 simply because temple is god awful. So perhaps I should switch over indeed. But getting temple practice was useful regardless

ye, that's how I made it to 7-78. Just use resources when there's a decent risk of dying. And crates can support you quite nicely, so you shouldn't really ever run dry
