Easy mode
Can we get an easy mode? Non hardcore spelunkers like me won't ever be able to play through the game which is really sad.
Also when the game will be available on Nintendo Switch, there will be many more casual gamers who gonna hate that they only will ever see a fraction of the game because only the top 1% capable players will be able to complete it.

Easy mode would be: When you die, you can revive your character near the location you died. Or restart the level where you died.

And again. The game demands a precision from the player but itself isn't precise. It needs you do move like pixel perfect but then the controls only allow movement of like 4 pixels at a time. Then add all the weird hitboxes and timings. This stuff is just frustrating and makes no sense whatsoever.

There are no pixel perfect jumps required. Can you give examples of what you mean?

Do you have run on by default by any chance? That's another issue from the devs imo - having run on by default.

The weird hitboxes and timings? I agree to an extent, sometimes things feel off. But then here's the key point I want to make: An "easy mode" doesn't solve those issues. Giving players 3 ankhs doesn't solve the issues. Changes should be made in the game itself, not by adding an easy mode.

I think difficulty is what makes spelunky more appealing than your average platformer that you would complete once and forget forever, dont set intention to see all content. This game is meant to be replayed over and over again.

Though i could offer another way to have easy mode: remove ghost timer, remove some harder enemies like moles, have more ankhs.

Came for the dumb gatekeeping comments, wasn't disappointed. The game has an atrocious clear rate, clearly something's amiss.

Let people have their easy mode, why not? You lose nothing and can keep trying hard.
Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised to see how civil this thread has been, especially considering the contentious nature of the subject. Not sure what comments you're referring to. I just see folks giving their takes on why an easy mode would be bad for the game.

Agreed, when compared with (some) similar discussions at games like Sekiro, Dark Souls, Hollow Knight etc., this is indeed very civil.

when my aunt first brought home sonic two i couldn't get passed the second level boss for the life of me, ecco the dolphin another one of the most memorable games i never beat. 30 years later and they prove little to no challenge for me. When I was a lad I bought the game genie I looked up the guides in the backs of magazines but those experiences were short lived and empty. comparatively I was so proud when I conquered earthworm jim and vectorman, You might not be able to see the whole game now but when you develop the skills you need to be able to, you will appreciate what we have here. If you are truly passionate about gaming I urge you to continue

Imagine making this game easier mainly for future Nintendo Switch players. Is there a proof that they're actually less skilled than PS4 or PC players?

Hi, just wanted to share someone made a mod that, when you die, it restarts you at the start of the level for an exponentially growing dollar amount. It's called "Turn Back Time" and it requires the "modlunky2" mod installer. https://spelunky.fyi/mods/m/turn-back-time/

Seems to work exactly as intended: if you have the required cash at the beginning of the level, you restart immediately on death on the same map (literal map reset). If you don't have the cash, game over.

Only found one bug that if you die with the cape, it's disabled on restart for just that level. Pretty nifty and makes the game enjoyable having at least a couple of restarts (plus, replaying the exact same level helps you avoid that trap)

PS: nice comment number

While I see your point, I also was terrible at the game when I first started. Now, I have complted every single thing except the Cosmic Ocean (Not good enough, I guess). You will get better and better, just have to practice.

Everybody who struggle to beat the game - you are fixated too much on a wrong thing. It's not as much about beating the game, but about getting familiar with the mechanics of the game and learning to overcome them.

People who spent hundreds or thousands of hours in the game are still playing it for the enjoyment of the game design, but not because they like so much to watch the credits roll.

Everyone is motivated by a different thing. Not everyone wants to spend thousands of hours in one game.

You don't need to spend thousands of hours to beat this game. Unless you want to go for 7-99, which is your choice and there is no reason you should try that unless you want to.
