Funny, I never thought to throw them at the beam. I always tossed them against the wall. Try that, watch your head though.

Yeah you should always throw the dice upwards at the wall opposite from the beam so it will never roll out of the shop or hit the beam.

I think you're supposed to throw them at the wall adjacent to the beam, considering that I take damage so often whenever I used the beam

the lads above said it right, throw it upwards on the wall on the opposite side of the beam, watch your head, and you should be fine !

While I also learned to throw the dice at the top of the exit wall so it wouldn't get out of the shop or kill me, it is obvious that there's no reason that such a task that should be THIS dangerous. I don't think this was done intentionally, it's just seems mean.

The simple solution would be to increase the weight of the dice to reduce how bouncy they are, and, even better, give players ability to roll them by whipping.
Another solution would be to put them on a chain, like the Kali's ball.

Or simply, close the entrance of the shop with another beam when you pay, and let it stay closed until you roll the dices.

I agree with you, this should be a simple task, there's no need to make this difficult or make you careful when you're paying the shopkeeper.

I don't use them because it's a time waste for a single item and a lot of lost gold.

Basically this, but id like it even more if the door of the shop would just close once you pay to roll the dices. Its an unnecesary and annoying task to throw them towards the wall above the door and dodge them so they dont fall on your head.

At that pont (Madame Tusk shop in Tide Pools) you'd be swimming in gold anyways and have little to no use of gold in the stages after (minus the sun challenge). Plus the chance of getting a bomb box or paste (if you went Volcana route and didnt find paste in a shop) is worth the investment.

There are 3 items for winning + extra secret as well (leading to secret biom, tho noone yet figured what to do there).

If you jump and throw them straight at the wall opposite of the beam, they'll never roll out and never hit you either. Safest way to roll the dice.

Did you have a pitcher's mitt?

I found out the hard way that if you throw the dice towards the laser with a pitcher's mitt, they will maintain the "perfect trajectory" feature of the pitcher's mitt throw when they bounce off, meaning they'll just glide gracefully out of the shop and get you killed.

Dices have been already patched a couple of days ago, they don't bounce hard anymore.

I've had a couple of weird things happen in this scenario, one is what I guess is a glitch where the dice bounces of the laser and it glides outside the store, like it goes in a stray line towards the exit kinda like if you had thrown it with the catcher's mitt (pretty sure i didn't have the mitt).

The other thing was that the shopkeeper got aggro'd by apparently no reason, like, i threw the dice at the laser and it landed normally, not outside the shop or anything, and the shopkeeper got aggro'd i have no idea what happened there.

All of this last night, so after the patch,
