I'd be down for an incrementally increasing discount each time you buy out a new shop

I dislike killing shopkeepers, to me there is more challenge and fun in finding the gold and making the purchases. Unless you care about mass score, there is no reason to bother with treasure and every level becomes a speedrun
Shop prices also depend on what level you're in, with later worlds charging higher prices for the same items.
EDIT: Nope, that's not it. I've had shops appear in 1-3 after buying only a single item in 1-2. It's probably entirely random.
