But yeah, I agree. 20 is an absolute steal, and honestly maybe a smart move even if they COULD get away with 30.
As a frequent buyer of steam games, on a relatively low income, I can say I firmly believe that there's a big psychological barrier between a $20 purchase, and literally anything higher than that. Even just going to 25 or 30, it goes from "yeah I'll buy that right now" to "ehh I better make sure I really want this" at least in my mind.
It makes me wonder if this is a common thing for other people.. and that the team - and their experience selling a successful digital game before - know this, so they're going for the "craploads of people will buy it for this price" strategy.
For me that psychological barrier hits at $15. I think everyone has a price that creates that kind of barrier. (that is unless you're rich and don't value your money)
I have a birthday the day before it comes out so hopefully I'll have the money to splurge a bit and pick it up regardless of its price
yolo bro.
Money come money go, enjoy life.
Don't get me wrong, I work for minimum wage, so 20 bucks would be pretty much ideal for me, because I know that it's probably enough to support an indie dev team, but it's not breaking my bank.
Plus, it's pretty much the new normal for indie games. It's not 2011 anymore, 10 bucks is just unrealistic for a game with years of development and assets behind it. For a one man band maybe, but a team has got to pay some bills.
I'll pay $20 for this one though, no problem. My wife and I still play Spelunky HD on my 360 now and have had it for many years already. That's a hell of a bang for your $15 bucks, I assume this one will be no different.
How much are $60 USD games in your country?
