I'm not 100% on this but I think Derek has gone on record saying that he thinks he's released a completed game that won't be needing any updates besides bug fixes.

Derek said Spelunky 2 is already complete, and a DLC is not currently planned. They will add freatures like online deathmatch later on, but I don't think new zones or characters.

I'd be hype for that,so.. hope so!

maybe even a "classic route" mode that lets players go through the game as if it's spelunky 1, but with the new enemies, graphics, items.
or checkboxes to only show classic enemies, items

Just for fun, would never be the main draw of the game. love the new stuff so far

IMO I don't think "Spelunky" and "DLC" go well hand in hand. Just like the previous game, I like to think that I bought the full package with all the ideas that the creator had in mind.
