You're just repeating the same stuff, ignoring valid arguments and pointing at the "evil co op" that destroyed the spirit of the series. Again: Cry of fear has co op and is probably more horror than RE ever was in his whole history. The amount of players have nothing to do with how scary a game is, unless your game doesn't stand and fall only with the isolation aspect.
If that's the case, then there is no point in discussing how the amount of players destroy that feeling, if the problem clearly lies within the weak gamedesign. Horror is MUCH more than isolation.
I think that's apples and oranges comparission. The implementation of destructable enviroments in Battlefield sure is an improvement that in no way would ever affect the game in a negative way.
Forced Co-op in Resident Evil is a completely different story. Sure RE7 could use some OPITIONAL online/co-op whatever mode. But the forced co-op in the main campaign being a "highlight" in the series? I would hardly agree with that. Many people would agree that the forced co-op in this series did affected the franchise in a negative way.
Some people would disagree here and would argue, that destroyable surroundings makes explosives too overpowered, that it doesn't help to learn a map inside out and use it tactical since everything can change and that they don't like, that being inside a house doesn't make you save because everyone with explosives can bomb you out.
And while you're talking about "force co op" I am talking about "well worked out co op".
They have just begun, of course they need time to get better - but there is a lot of potential.
RE6 didn't have "forced" co op besides, it was a pretty nice implemented co op that felt true at all times. The horror aspect is another story, but the co op was not just added in the end as a gimmick, it was designed for co op from the very beginning and one felt that while playing.
That is far from nicely implemented.
Then you've played a different game, because the way the both players have to work together (solving puzzles while being isolated, teamwork necessary, helping the other to get out of somwhere) were well placed and thought out and not just SP with a second player.
Bad co-op or good co-op doesn't really matter. It is still forced nonetheless. That's my point. RE5 and RE6 have forced Co-op. Meaning you can't play without the AI mule partner.
Thank God RE7 director realise this and removed this forced feature for good.
dude im not feeding you but do you see a partner running around with ethan? no you don't
dont be stupid.
You neither when they bring back coop in the next part.
