ALL of my unlockable items are gone...
I just decided to start a new playthrough for fun, and when I got to my item box, every single one of my unlockables I spent so much time unlocking are gone: X-Ray Glasses, The Secrets of Defense, Circular Saw, The Essence of Defense, Walking Shoes, Infinite Ammo, and even the damn Dirty Coin (for completing the demo). The only 2 things that I do have access to are Madhouse mode and the Albert 01-R. I really don't understand how or why this would have happened, as I can still access my other save files with those items... anyone know what I can do to fix this? This is so stupid....

Although technically, if you have a save file with all collectibles, you can just finish the game through it and get a bunch of unlocks back.

Probably a Steam Cloud mishap, your profile was overwritten by an older one. Ty to disable and enable Cloud on this game and hope. (Or just disable it and reopen everything. Should be done in two runs, so only 6 hours is lost then.)

So... something interesting happened.

I was so annoyed at losing everything that I just said screw it, let me uninstall and reinstall the game (after backing up my saves manually, of course). What's absolute bizzare is when I opened the game, I have the Dirty Coin again, and I have all unlockables from Jack's 55th Birthday, Nightmare, 21, Not a Hero, and End of Zoe, but I still only have Madhouse and the Albert for the main game... Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but Mr. Everwhere statues carry over through each subsequent playthrough, and the game thinks I've only destroyed 17/20, which isn't true (as I have save files with every single unlockable item).

Now that I'm stuck in this situation with most of my stuff back, but arguably the most important stuff missing, any ideas? This is so dumb and I have no idea what to do to fix it, as I have no interest in reunlocking everything.

No way out, sadly, unless you really can find a save file on your Steam cloud that works. The save files are account-locked, so you either redo everything or you are out of luck, as you cannot just download a save and use it. (If you had the Windows Store version, you could, but this is the Steam one.)

Not sure what you mean by "a save file that works"; I have save files that have everything (in the main story) unlocked, most of which is in my character's inventory. Are you referring to like an overall save, rather than the individual ones in the game?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Funny you said that, I just thought of that last night; I loaded up my speedrun save file as well as my Madhouse save file and beat them both, only took like 10 minutes, and got most of my stuff back. The only thing that I'll actually need a whole playthrough for are the Mr. Everwhere statues; since those are global among all save files for some weird reason, the game has it registered that I have only 17/20 broken (even though in every one of my playthroughs, except maybe the 1st one, I've smashed them all, so I really don't even get how any of this makes any sense, nice job Capcom!), so I'll have to smash the rest of them again... really curious which 3 the game thinks I didn't break.

I really appreciate your help with this! You've really helped me think through all these nonsensical problems I've been having, and I'll be back to where I was in no time! Thanks again!

Just in case you were curious, the 3 Mr. Everwhere statues that the game thinks I never destroyed were the first 3 you encounter in the game... literally makes NO sense... good job Capcom!

Well, I am glad you fixed it then. ^_^
