Boiler Room infinite molded problem
I just got the wooden statue and went through the passage way. After going to the save room I went down then right to the boiler room.

When I opened the door 2 molded spawned 1 infront & 1 behind. Those 2 melt and stop spawning once you close the door & wait for few minutes. Even if you kill them they won't spawn again.

Once you get the herb & open the boiler room things get strange. Closing the door melts them but they keep coming infinitly. I have 63 ammo and in this room there seems to be more than 7 molded that spawn 2 at a time or maybe more. Because I wasted all my ammo killing 6 and 2 molded spawned again? Is the game telling me to avoid this room and go somewhere. Is there a method to prevent the molded from spawning in this room constantly?

Also do molded have different health points because I killed 2 with 3 headshots and 3 with 6 headshots.

Also if you finished this part how many molded are there in this room? Cause for me they don't seem to stop spawning.

you can kill those things with a knife, just circle them and trap them around corners.

You can cheese them pretty hardcore. :D

I'm confused. Did you go in and out of the room multiple times without killing anything?

In both of my playthroughs (Normal, Madhouse) I went in, killed the molded without closing the door, and they never spawned again.

You inspired me to go in and murder everything without stepping outside the room. after 3 spawned and I killed them, they don't seem to respawn. I dunno if not leaving the room stopped them from continually popping up or what - I had been kiting them, killing them outside the boiler room, then going back in where more would show up. Anyway it looks like you should just murder whatever there is in the room without kiting them.

You can kite them but if any of them despawn they will have their hp reset. You shouldn't kite them more then a few feet outside of the room.

They're not actually respawning. If you leave the area they're inhabitating, they'll hide. If you kill them, they'll stay dead.

I guess if you're shooting them, then let them hide, they might heal up.

They placed way too many of them in and around the boiler room. Wasted all my ammo on them and there are still 2 of them alive.

Run to the door, use the key to open it, go inside. If there is a moulded next to the door, block one of its hits so it staggers back and use that time to put the key in the lock. The opening animation plays out.

So that door inside the boiler room is locked? I don't have any key for that I think. I guess I will go look at a walkthrough video to get passed this hurdle.

The problem was that I didn't had the shotgun yet. With the shotgun it was doable.

It is doable without any weapons, the shotgun just makes all base molded encounters easier. :)
Honestly that's the only moment in the game where that happens, once you are past it, you'll never worry about too many molded/not enough ammunition.
