Here the same, but i have the solution. ;) change scaling by GPU in scaling by Display in the NVIDIA Control Panel and the 1080p will fit your screen. ...CAPCOM should fix that....
btw: it's possible for you to use custom resolutions in RE7?
I'm running it on a 1080p without HDR, but for whatever game -- on its own and totally randomly -- said starting with HDR mode "on". It didn't ask if I wanted it to be on, it just automatically did it. Then, when I turned that mode off, everything was super bright. The problem, I think, is the game starting HDR mode on non-HDR monitors/TVs. To answer your other question, I have a Nvidia card (GTX 1080).
No. My TV has no HDR capability. I didn't choose to turn HDR mode on. The game did. About my 6th time turning the game on, it just randomly said it was staring with HDR mode "on". Didn't give me an option, didn't allow me to opt out. It just did it. The game has looked messed up ever since, even after I turn HDR mode to "off". This seems to be what's happening to most in this thread.
I was pretty sure this was what was happening and it is: the game glitches and auto-selects HDR on, even though the monitor doesn't have HDR and everything looks like crap from that point forward. The best advice in this thread was to download the older Nvidia driver. The game still looks significantly worse than it did (much darker with poor contrast and banding issues), but at least it becomes playable again, unlike the super bright version you're dealing with now. Good luck!
I didn't even realize many people can't get it to launch. What's that about? When you look at it that way, yeah, are problem takes second priority.

Sounds like it is mostly only happening to AMD Phenom users, but I may be wrong there. Either won't launch or crashes at the same spot near the beginning of the game. Honestly, this issue is as bad as crashing for me, because I won't play until it's fixed, rendering the game "unplayable" for me...was SOOOO looking forward to this too. Plus, since I used Green Man Gaming for the first time in my life to save a buck or two, I of course can't refund.
No it doesn't. HDR and Wider Color Gamut are completely different. HDR just takes advantage of it if it is actually being implemented. The color space is not changed at all with the way HDR is handled in this game. I'm playing on an LG OLED, and the shadows and whiter highlights (like at the start) get massive banding BECAUSE it's not adding more color.
Also, the new patch doesn't fix the problem. The only thing it does is prevents the game from auto toggling HDR ON when you launch, even if you had it off when you exited. The brightness is still completely screwed up in non HDR mode.
The drivers have nothing to do with this either, or at least if they do, it's a problem that has always existed, because it persists across all drivers from the latest, to last year.
I found it to have the oppisite on my 7Series LG it was verydark.. although when i recorded the game it didnt seem so dark.
please tell me you dont have the G6 LG otherwise im gonna be jelous
It went back to normal after I reinstalled the Nvidia Drivers. Hope it helps.
Now the only problem with this game is the stattering that happens every like 20-30 minutes while you move around the areas. Hope they fix it with the next update/
