HDR problem
Hello, could someone enlighten me about the "HDR mode" in this game?
See, I was playing it fine for a couple of hours, and then after I restarted the computer and run my game again it said that the game will now always launch in HDR mode when it's launche full screen, and the gamma seems all wrong for me in this mode... However when I try to turn the HDR mode off, my brightness setting goes off, and now my lowest brigthness is too bright, it's like the highest brightness on default, see ---> http://fastpic.ru/view/89/2017/0124/_2fb0e0ef24020d01666ea2d0fb30275c.png.html

Here's my issue, and it's really getting on my nerves: I only have the option to play in HDR @ 1080p or 4k... the problem with this is 1080 is way below what I can run, but 4k is a little too high. I want to run 2k like I do with MOST of my games, but unless I run without HDR my game doesn't fill the whole screen, it is instead a rectangle in the center of the screen with hugh black bars around all 4 sides. I've tried everything. WTF? I am using a Samsung UHD 6300 50" - yes HDR is available and does in fact work. My problem is that I can't run a suitable resolution with this option on.

Here the same, but i have the solution. ;) change scaling by GPU in scaling by Display in the NVIDIA Control Panel and the 1080p will fit your screen. ...CAPCOM should fix that....

btw: it's possible for you to use custom resolutions in RE7?

Is everyone else having this issue using a 4K monitor, or is this happening on anyone elses 1080p displays also?

EDIT: Should mention that I'm about 99% sure my 4K doesn't have HDR, and yet the option to enable it isn't grayed out when I'm using it...but it is when I use the 1080p displays.

2nd EDIT: Also, is this only happening for Nvidia users, or is anyone having the same thing happen on an AMD card?

I'm running it on a 1080p without HDR, but for whatever game -- on its own and totally randomly -- said starting with HDR mode "on". It didn't ask if I wanted it to be on, it just automatically did it. Then, when I turned that mode off, everything was super bright. The problem, I think, is the game starting HDR mode on non-HDR monitors/TVs. To answer your other question, I have a Nvidia card (GTX 1080).

And you use a Monitor or a UHD-tv WITH HDR Support right? Otherwise it's useless to try the HDR Option.

No. My TV has no HDR capability. I didn't choose to turn HDR mode on. The game did. About my 6th time turning the game on, it just randomly said it was staring with HDR mode "on". Didn't give me an option, didn't allow me to opt out. It just did it. The game has looked messed up ever since, even after I turn HDR mode to "off". This seems to be what's happening to most in this thread.

I am having the same issue, after having played yesterday with the color working fine I installed the new nVidia drivers and then launched the game. The game launched in HDR mode (I don't have a HDR screen) and now the color looks all messed up, even after turning it off.

I was pretty sure this was what was happening and it is: the game glitches and auto-selects HDR on, even though the monitor doesn't have HDR and everything looks like crap from that point forward. The best advice in this thread was to download the older Nvidia driver. The game still looks significantly worse than it did (much darker with poor contrast and banding issues), but at least it becomes playable again, unlike the super bright version you're dealing with now. Good luck!

Seems like we are all stuck waiting for a patch, and seeing as many people can't even get it to launch, i bet our dark/washed out screen issues take a back seat to those. Have to go on media blackout for a week or two to avoid spoilers, and hope that it gets resolved...

I didn't even realize many people can't get it to launch. What's that about? When you look at it that way, yeah, are problem takes second priority.

Sounds like it is mostly only happening to AMD Phenom users, but I may be wrong there. Either won't launch or crashes at the same spot near the beginning of the game. Honestly, this issue is as bad as crashing for me, because I won't play until it's fixed, rendering the game "unplayable" for me...was SOOOO looking forward to this too. Plus, since I used Green Man Gaming for the first time in my life to save a buck or two, I of course can't refund.

I play on a LG UHD TV with HDR support. So if i switch from HDR to SDR, then the SDR Mode is to bright. So ive change the brightness in the grafical menu (...left coin nearly unvisible, right coin visible...) and it's okay. listen, the picturequality (colors) is different, because HDR brings BT2020 to.

No it doesn't. HDR and Wider Color Gamut are completely different. HDR just takes advantage of it if it is actually being implemented. The color space is not changed at all with the way HDR is handled in this game. I'm playing on an LG OLED, and the shadows and whiter highlights (like at the start) get massive banding BECAUSE it's not adding more color.

Also, the new patch doesn't fix the problem. The only thing it does is prevents the game from auto toggling HDR ON when you launch, even if you had it off when you exited. The brightness is still completely screwed up in non HDR mode.

The drivers have nothing to do with this either, or at least if they do, it's a problem that has always existed, because it persists across all drivers from the latest, to last year.

Had the same Issue. (I streamed to a TV through a laptop) when I went back to my main PC the game started in HDR, When I turned it off the screen went insanely bright.

It went back to normal after I reinstalled the Nvidia Drivers. Hope it helps.

The new patch that came out yesterday supposed to fix the HDR problem. It fixed it for me at least, now it works fine even on the new drivers.

Now the only problem with this game is the stattering that happens every like 20-30 minutes while you move around the areas. Hope they fix it with the next update/

I had problems with this too, activated HDR automatically on start, and I tried to stream it at the same time but it was completely normal on OBS but SUPER bright for me, even after I changed it back. I made sure to save my progress in RE7, reinstalled the drivers, uninstalled the game and reinstalled it again and it was fine. Some goofy ♥♥♥♥ from Capcom I guess. Let me know if you guys still got issues after that.

I had brightness issues with this game when trying to play on my monitor and not TV, but i found out that the problem was that it was because both the TV and monitor was plugged in.. i unplugged the TV, restarted the game and everything was fine..
