Stuck after the Birthday Cake Puzzle! :-/

Hi can anyone provide me with a save prior to the "Birthday Cake Puzzle" Please?
I've been following a walkthrough Guide, I didn't clean the telescope to do the puzzle on the wall, to get the straw doll, also not grabing the Quilll Pen and Winding Key, any help would be much appreciated!

2. walk to ckae and trigger the conversation
3. light candle after starting oven
4. burn rope
5. LOSER
6. grab vent
7. use vent next to cake
8. burn candle
9. use on cake

I followed the guide here, but I always get burned alive. THere is nothing I can interact with to prevent it.

When you do it as Ethan, you are supposed to already know the codes and not repeat the same mistake as Clancy did. Or, to make it simpler: Never uncork the barrel to spill oil in the room, so there isn't anything to burn you.
