Stuttering fix?
I have been getting some massive stuttering. Everything was fine and running very smoothly up until the family meal after fighting Mia, since then the game keeps stuttering/stopping and starting every 30 seconds or so. I've turned everything down, turned off v-sync ect but doesn't seem to make any difference. It's very fustrating, like I said the game ran fine up until this moment.

EDIT: To anyone else get this problem: free up storage space, turn textures down, turn off shadow cache. After all this it's still not ideal, but much better than it was. Any other tips you have are welcome.

I had something similar happen to me, it was fine in the small house but in the new, big one, my fps took a big hit (especially looking at light sources. I´ve tweaked my config and reduced heavy performance options down and it helped me: http://segmentnext.com/2017/01/23/resident-evil-7-pc-tweaks-guide/

After turning almost everything down and using your guide (thanks btw) im not even sure if this is a graphics issue. The game even stutters on the company logos on start up, these are like 2-5 seconds where everything stops. Like I said, everything was running fine up until now.

I read on GURU3D that you should definitely turn off 'Shadow Cache' if you have 4Gb or less VRAM.

I had stuttering like this, too. I turned off shadow cache and changed texture quality to medium, the textures look exactly the same on meduim as they are on high, just with a tiny bit of pop-in sometimes.

Turned off 'Shadow Cache', textures to low, same thing

did you also turned the shadow quality down to low ? its the biggest performance killer in my experience.
was able to run the game very fine until the tape sequence in the ship, when everything started to run in slow-mo. when i reduced the shadow quality to low, it was fine again.
it could also help to close steam client and run the game directly from the folder.

- shadow cache off
- textures medium

Having to turn down textures when they are already pretty poor is lame. Some optimization would have been nice Capcom.

I was also suffering from these freezing/stuttering problems until the latest patch.

Both after the latest patch was deployed, and I turned down my Textures to medium/shadow cache off I noticed 90% of the stutters were gone, the few remaining only happen rarely and are usually very quick.

Same problem here , i am way above the system requirments too. The problem seems to arise after around 30 mins play time then if i restart my system its fine 60 fps again for another 20-30 mins....... it needs fixing because at its worst im getting 5 second freezes. It cant be my setting or i would have it all the time right? and a restart wouldnt fix it? it has to be somthing "they" need to fix.

Ok, after uninstalling a couple of games the game is now playable, but I still get stuttering every once in awhile. I guess storage space was the problem.

Thanks for all your help, but I'm still fustrated with my experience, seeing how good the game can run and now having to play in 2008 mode in order to get it to work.

the only fix that causes no stutters for me when exiting hallways it to turn the texture quality to high instead of very high..

I'm very new to pc gaming, like in the last year. I honestly don't know off hand what my specs are after building the pc myself, and don't know how to find out without taking it appart and having a look at what I bought using a online guide.

Also no need to get rude, keep your V ramming to the bedroom.
