Weapon Damage

Does someone have a list of how much damage each weapon does? I'm hesitant to use a rifle if the shotgun greatly ourperforms it.

a shotgun with no upgrades will do 120 damage at close range... kiling up to lvl 4 wolves... there was a thread about this a while back with all the damages of guns at the different levels... by Bart i think.. if you search you may find it. the rifle also has been known to have some alignment issues with the cross hair. I stick to the shotgun for animals period... i think most do.

This information is from a guide published by bArt (his name doesnt use an A, its an upside down V, I dont have the character on my keyboard) I will add that in my experience, the rifle is worth carrying. The current iteration of the game makes crafting rifle ammo a better use of rresources, and the rifle has excellent killing capability, from a much much greater distance. The only time i carry a shotgun is if im low on rifle ammo, and have a bunch of shotgun ammo stockpiled from loot crates.

Rifle
• Each hit takes 49HP.
• Lvl 0 Rifle can kill a hunter with 1 headshot.
• Rifle rounds are the rarest ammo in the game. You will usually find more 9mm bullets and shotgun shells.
• Aiming down the sights with rifle zooms in much further than Pistol/Shotgun. This can be useful while roaming around the map, to spot certain things that can be hard to see at a distance.

Pistol
• Each hit takes 18HP.
• Lvl 0 Pistol can kill a hunter with 3 headshots.

Shotgun
• Each hit takes 120HP.
• The shotgun has quite a wide spread.
• Fires 20 ballbearing that each have 6 damage (so 120 total damage if every ballbearing hits).
• This is the best weapon to kill wild animals, but you have to use it right. Don't waste bullets at medium range (you will hit 3 or 4 ballbearing and miss the rest). If 1 shotgun shell is enough to kill a bear/wolf (check HP), lure the animal, wait for him to get really close to you and then shoot. This way you have sure that you hit each single ballbearing and kill the animal.
• Lvl 0 Shotgun can kill a Lvl 3 Wolf with 1 shot. Just make sure the wolf is really close to you.

Metal Axe
• Each hit takes 17HP.
• Breaks down a wooden wall in 27 seconds.

Pickaxe
• Each hit takes 22HP.
• Breaks down a wooden wall in 30 seconds.

I'd say that the axe and pickaxe needs to be updated. The axe, at least, does only 1 damage to doors/walls now.
