You could always make a landmark and use that as a meeting place ? Maybe.
Or you could even use the compass and say OK i spawned north near a big lake and ask your friends to head north or to another way point?.
I bealive the spawn system is way too hard at the beginning. Or maybe I don't know about something and there actually is something that let me spawn myself closer to the base.
Put in the effort. Get the reward. its that simple.
In Co-Op, you can use the map to find and track your Co-players.
A blue icon will show for the local player, and Co-Op players that share a base will show as white icons (only after they are added to the player list in the BCU).
Cons:
If players decide to build their own base, and are listed on someone else's BCU, their own BCU will not auto-generate power and mass and must be charged, using generators, solar panels and/or wind turbines.
It's a trade-off that I don't understand.
