You really need to worry less about stopping the duping at the expense of gameplay.
When you die, anything that's a start item if stacked you lose, if you crafted your own and then upgraded oyur M9, you lose it, if you had multiple crafted canteens, you lose them all, bandages, matches, you lose the entire stack. Every single 9mm round I had, gone. All 86. From 1 death most of my inventory disappeared.

The "anti-cheat" measures you have prioritised over gameplay has actually made me go from really really enjoying the game to not making me want to play anymore at all. I'm finding it hard to recommend this game to my stream viewers because it's just stupid, the starter items that could be duped in a box be dying and respawning can easily be gotten around by having the player start with an empty inventory in front of a box that has your starter items, rather than spending hours refining and craftingonly to have it all disappear.

I know it's ridiculous, because you, the dev have even agreed. So what gives? why is this still here? is it to punish your players or just laziness? it was prioritised to put in over other what i would consider to be far more essential, why not take back out as a priority?

Anyhting that's an item type you start with, if in a container gets removed from the game, even if it's not the ones you started with.

It's an anti-duping measure the dev put in, it's in older posts on the forum.

Oh and no, I didn't try to dupe or cheat or anything, I just clicked respawn on bed instead of reload for a change.

Hi,

You lose 33.33% of all times in inventory every time you die. Only starter 9mm and items that spawn in after death also go poof. You also lose one armor part when you die as well.

All tested here:

Is what is supposed to happen, except losing 100% of the items and a non starter upgraded M9 isn't, so you might want to go test it again.

Except it's on stream happening 3 times in a row to numerous viewers.

Anyway, fine, don't fix it. pretend it's not there or an issue, lose players base and marketing.
-Shrug- thousand and one games like it. I'll move on to another then. Have a nice day.

I am not the developer just a gamer and they have a bug or are doing something wrong. If you get back to your box with in the time limit then you lose 33.33%, one armor item and any free equipment from a spawn.

Now if you want to send me your save (solo only as co-op won't work) I'll be happy to test your saves. If not I would validate your files or try a reinstall.

Please provide the link to the stream and I'll watch it happen live and might better unstand what the issue is ;-)

What exactly were you going right before you died?

This is not meant to be an easy game, and death has a consequence. Rather than blaming the game, perhaps figure out what you're doing wrong that causes you to get killed. Learn from your mistakes, adapt, and improve your gameplay style.

It's up there, when I do a stream review I'll clip it out and link. It was in the co-op.

Further info gathered, I can't host the co-op, it get's stuck at launching game. The launch.log file has errors in it that are hard to follow, it starts to create the map then instantly deletes it and hangs according to the log, I can upload log contents if requested
(It's not a port forwarding issue or anything like that, it doesn't get that far)

I know the game is hard, that's why I like it. I am aware of the normal consequences for death, these are abnormal.

I will copy the log files and try deleting and reinstalling the game to C: (the sata drive) and see if that changes anything.

Seems to be recurring in co-op. Single player it's happened on occasion, but not every time.

I have yet to host to find out if that's a client or host issue.

I have played a of of Co-Op and that have never happened once to any of those I play with. Only time I know that is happening if you play HC Co-Op, then you are reborn without a death crate even.

I fiddled with the name as suggested and it loaded finally. Which might actually be the inventory issue.

It doesn't happen when I host, only when I joined my friend's host, I'll try swapping the names back and forth, then test it as both client and host when my mate gets back on tomorrow.

Does the player info save server side or client side? if server side, then the name might be the issue with the game being unable to save inventory properly.

Anyway will test that tomorrow to see if it's the name causing the issue.

Game saves server side.
