Also, how have you almost died from lack of veggies? I could be wrong but I dont remember losing health due to a low veggie bar.
Yeah, I have 3 planters of veggies now, one only tomatoes. I am fine when I am in my main base, but I start running around the map and hanging out in my 2 mini-bases and I am always facing starvation because of veggies. I can't take that much with me, it will spoil.
Almost dying from lack of veggies was that bar turning red and me not having enough energy to run away from packs of flying killer wolves and insane bears that must have rabies and both only being like 50 ft. way from me, no matter where I go, lol.
Sorry about the type-os, you'll probably have to re-read my post.
I am in no way ready to make preserves. I have an electric stove, but no cooking utensils to cook with, yet.
But I know about those things, I am just pretty early game right now and that is what I have to survive and lack of veggies is really getting annoying.
Or make a planter to put at your outposts so you have veggies there when spending time there. The veggies dont spoil if you leave them on the plants, so you can basically have a planter full of veggies waiting for your arrival.
Thanks, those are good tips. So many problems to solve, so little time! I just now got around to taking a wood stove up to one of my mini-bases. Right now, I am trying to get some lithium so I can make a base extender because I am built on the north lake and I can't place my mining drill, so I can get enough water to water my plants without running back and forth to the lake every 3 minutes. I have plenty of the other ores, except for lithium and obsidian (which I am finding enough of now).
As far as the mining drill placement goes, I was able to place them at the bottom of the lake in one of my playthroughs a while back. Not sure if thats still possible or not though.
I have easy access to water. I have stairs on the back of this down to the water. I just don't enjoy running down there with canteens all of the time. I have 3 planters on the front deck of that now. (you can see the first 2 in that photo).
I need to put a base extender down at the bottom of that ramp so I can place my mining drill. You can only place a mining drill on dirt now, you can't put them on rocks or in the water.
Early game, I had this dream of building bases all around the map. LOL, was that ever a pipe dream. Maybe by the time I turn 150 in real life.
I mean, like I think I have said in this Steam forum before, I have this love for grindy games or I am just a glutton for punishment, but this game takes it to an entirely different level.
I mean if I could ever finish one day with a sense of accomplishment. Like one day I will have a weapon of mass destruction that will incinerate flying wolves and bears who have gone insane, for miles in every direction. Or I could look at my base and say 'WOW, just look at that since last year!' Then I will be happy!
And yet, I love this game so much, I have spent more hours on it than every game on Steam, ever, since I started gaming in 2007. Like I said, I can never get enough self abuse, lol.
I bought this game a few years back and it had a lot more grind than it is now. I left for awhile but when I came back just recently I see a better balance than before. This game is definitely a tuff one at first but in time it gets better and better.
It seems the opposite for me. I think it was 2017 when I first played it and it seems I remember it being 'less' grindy back then. I wish I could find my old save, but I lost it. The only save I could find from back then was one in which I was less progressed than I am now. I had 2 story base with lots of solar panels and wind turbines. Oh well, I'll maybe learn to stop running out of veggies one day and find enough lithium. Then maybe I will get somewhere.
Yeah, that is extremely impressive. How did you ever get enough lithium? I was out all day yesterday roaming that lake north of the mountains and only found 4 lithium. In comparison, I found 24 obsidian south of that area. So it seems a little unbalanced there. Do you have a secret for finding that ore?
