Improve Output of Windmill and Solar panel with upgrades
The cost to upgrade the windmill and/or Solar panel, is unreasonable for the minimal increase on the output. Either reduce the cost for each upgrade or increase the output for each upgrade so the cost equates to noticeable increase. Such as the windmill only increases from .10 to .15 after a total of 2 upgrades. A .05 increase in output is worthless compared to amount or resources used to reach each upgrade. This is way I have stepped back from the game because the Poor QOL improvement in this area. FYI I 21 power storage devices and 17 mass storage devices and I can burn through them all even with my 4 generators running at full speed when running the three auto-miners, stove, fridge and crafting bench. I have 17 windmills and 18 solar panels and the power output after 2 upgrades to each was at an unreasonable cost of resources. I found it more efficient to just build additional on additional unit instead of using important resources for just a single .05 increase after the 2 upgrades. In simplicity each up grade should be something in the range of .05 for the first and an additional .05 for the second and then the current cost would reflect to improvements were worth the work. (and RL Time to enjoy this game.)

I totally agree with you. I've converted my roof into a mini power plant. I think they could be generating more energy per unit.

yep, you are correct. I never put upgrades into solar or wind. Just way too expensive to do.
Hmmm, honestly, once you learn how to play Subsistence, you won't have such non-existent problems..
Cheers

I don't understand the reasoning; the game never forces you to do upgrades.

I would also like a buff to both wind turbines and solar panels. It takes a lot of them to generate a useful quantity or power, and the upgrades are only cost-effective if you don't have a lot of roof space.

Here's an example of how much solar panels need to be buffed.

\One of my go-to tactics to get lots of ore is to build a small 4x4 hut in a region that has an ore I want lots of, place a BCU inside of it, and place a mining drill in the ground through the floor. This becomes a fully-autonomous mine that effectively keeps generating ore forever, but only once solar panels have been added.

How many solar panels, you ask? FIVE of them --- even after upgrading the BCU for power efficiency.

It's manageable, but feels like a time sink.
I agree & I hope this will be addressed in future updates. I have no problem grinding for this game, I like the grind but there needs to be a balanced reward. the upgrade cost makes no sense at the moment.

Reduce the cost for each upgrade or increase the output

I only upgrade when I'm placing them in a space-constrained location. That being said, you made these from scrap found in the woods, so don't expect the efficiency to even come close to RL analogs.

Hello everyone,

I'm writing in Google Translate for this topic.

Despite 25 solar and 25 wind turbines (fully updated to level 2), the electricity doesn't always help with 2 refrigerators and 8 earth drills. I was able to store 10K of electricity until the total subsistence failure 2 days ago and still had hardly any electricity. Every device I build is always focused on more power savings first and every panel or wheel is improved on both improvements. Still, it doesn't help. I have written a German letter of improvement (translate it for yourself). These old improvements that were necessary are not coming either.

Unfortunately, Subsistence hasn't been working at all for 2 days.
The only trick / useful power advice I can give; Power storage. Make tons of them. You only need regular electronic parts to craft them and you can easily overlap tons of them and not run out of power

thats not quite a helping comment really if you ask me! not everyone has tons of stuff ingame and have the time to spend 1000 of hrs of playing.
I dont have that problem myself but still think that the solar and turbines should give you more power than they do, even when not upgraded... you need far to many solars/turbines to make a good amount of incoming power to your base to be some kind of "self sufficient"
myself never upgrade them but build additional one since its cheaper.. so with that being said I agree with the topic of this discussion. the power needs to be increased when upgrading them especially with the cost it requires to do so.

making no sense with a comment such as "learn how to play". cause the game needs more balance either way no matter what you say!
End of discussion!

they should max out at.25 not .05 this way you can calculate what power is needed for instance at .25 maxed out you would only need 4 solar/wind to produce 1 power tick as it stands now you need 11 or 12 solar panels to produce 1 power tick and some will only generate .04 or as low as .03 at times ive seen 2 solar panel right next to each other and give different values

I have over 250 hours and I enjoy the game, but feel there can be minor improvements to the power generation. I can easily burn through the full electricity storage and mass storage just running all the items I use to either craft or harvest or drill. I know how to play this game. This is one of the easiest survival game I have played, but it also needs some tweaks to bring the experience to a slightly higher plateau of enjoyment. Just as simple comparison, 7 Days to Die has power generation and it is well balanced. I love survival games. I don't try to play them all because many have to "pull" on me like Subsistence and 7 Days. So, instead of insulting me, maybe you might want to address your short comings; "Elitism" is the bane of friendship and caring.

Hi Jaws,

The Queen of cheats, wouldn't know how to be nice or helpful. All she does is insult, make stupid sarcastic remarks or is accusing someone of the very thing she does. "Abuse, Insult and Cheat"

Spends all of her time beyond the boundary fence. No predators has Hunters off. There are no resources over there, but she stages screen shots with weapons and an Axe. There is nothing to shoot and you cannot harvest the trees. So fake.

You don't need to be a mathematician to calculate the enormous amount of materials needed to build what she has,

It would need hundreds of trips, even with the ATV full. Of course she doesn't do that. Oh but she doesn't cheat, no of course not. Just seems to know so much about cheating apps but accuses others of cheating all the time. It is just a deflection, like all guilty people do.

I may be new to the game but I am not stupid. In the short time I played l know how hard it is to get materials as others would too.

I miss playing, work commitments got it the way and I have to travel a lot. There is just no time to play. I do log into Steam on my phone, like now, to try and keep up with the updates etc. So many times I see the Cheat Queen and another female with their same nasty negative and useless comments.
Best to just ignore them is probably the best thing to do and hope they just go away.
