Running water sounds inside base

Haven't played for a few years. If I build near running water like a river or waterfall will the sounds be occluded if I'm inside my base? Or should I build further away to avoid the constant noise?

Most likely you will hear water but very softly. It used to be much louder so if you are remembering from years past it isn't like it was. It is actually quite pleasant now.
