The seasonal graphics are nice and base building is good. But after that you start to feel the futility and struggle to make gains.
I have everything so its easy for me now.
Even I have started to fall away from SS after nearly 3000 hours and found this new game Rising World.
Great devs and fun game. A beta version is on offer to test now. Includes cmd prompt with with the option to play in Creative Mode you can also fly around.
Has so much going for it.
Find some video on the latest Java version. No grind like Subsistence.
Old version on store page.

New version on youtube.

Game Edged

But Subsistence will give you your money worths if you stay with it.
Hi 'jswarpaint' ,
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
However the problem is not only the Developer, but also the marketplace environment that STEAM controls!
——
STEAM Early Access marketplace environment has evolved into an ungoverned & unregulated SCAM!
• There are more than 12,000 Early Access games on STEAM - (Game Stats Data Services | Early Access)
• Early Access games account for approximately 40% of all games on STEAM - (Game Stats Data Services | Early Access)
• On average 90% or more of all STEAM Early Access games FAIL, primarily due to "poor-quality" - (Game World Observer | Pros and Cons of Early Access | 28 Jul, 2023)
In other words, STEAM Early Access marketplace environment has become a multi-billion-dollar, Statistically Guaranteed 'LOSE-LOSE' for the unsuspecting Customer, and his or her money!
——
Recommendation: DO NOT BUY STEAM EARLY ACCESS GAMES, until such time that additional & robust Consumer Rights and Protections are put into place such as:
1) A Flat 30-DAY 100% Full Refund Policy — on all games sold by STEAM, just like other consumer purchases around the world (See: UK 30-Day Consumer Rights Act 2015)
2) A Mandatory Free To Play Demo — on all games sold by STEAM
3) A Mandatory STEAM & Game Developer Public Business Plan and Timeline — on all Early Access games sold by STEAM
4) A Mandatory Escrow of Consumer Funds — against the default of all Early Access games sold by STEAM
5) Etcetera, Etcetera
——
NOTE: ColdGames (the Developer) has Sold more than 543,000 units of SUBSISTENCE (Alpha Stage) game, and has Grossed more than $5.8 million since Oct, 25, 2016 STEAM Early Access Launch
(link) https://vginsights.com/game/418030
A mere 10% reinvestment into the game's development would have provided for the employment of a Game Creative Director (with a background in Programming & Agile Methodology), and two additional Unreal Engine Game Programmers, for three years ... but that NEVER happened!
Had the proposed 'STEAM & Game Developer Public Business Plan and Timeline' (above) existed in 2016, SUBSISTENCE (Alpha Stage) game would have been finished in a timely manner or would have been demonetized, delisted, and refunded years ago!

The problem is not only the Developer, but also the ungoverned & unregulated marketplace environment that STEAM controls!
Good Luck & Regards
That is false, that request is probably one of the most demanded through years by many different people, from newbies to veteran players.
In fact i didn't exclude newbies. There's a big difference from a newbie to someone who hasn't even touched the game. A good rule of thumb is: if you don’t like it as is, it’s better not to contemplate whether to purchase the game at all. Because, no matter the amount of features that’ll be added, the game won’t suddenly become enjoyable if that's the only thing preventing you from buying.
And no, when you purchase an early access game you buy it on the premnise the project expand and grow and developer will do the things he said
RISING WORLD has been in STEAM Early Access for more than 9 years and 3 months!
SUBSISTENCE has been in STEAM Early Access for more than 7 years and 4 months!
Clearly something is seriously wrong with both game's Development teams , and/or both Development teams are Intentionally Abusing the STEAM Early Access program.!?
——
Conversely , Indie Game of the Year SUBNAUTICA took less than 4 years to develop!
——
Take my advice and Do Not Buy!
On average 90% or more of all STEAM Early Access games FAIL, primarily due to "poor-quality" - (Game World Observer | Pros and Cons of Early Access | 28 Jul, 2023)

Good Luck & Regards
I meant to say gamers who have played the game at least a few hours.
If you buy the game you should at least be pleased as how it is presented at the time of purchase. There's no reason to buy the game in advance for what it'll be in the future. Smart people wait for the development to reach a satisfactory gameplay experience before buying. Steam EA is not the same as kickstarter.
I don't understand why you think that time of development has anything to do with abuse?
Hi 'Virago' ,
I'm not going to follow your off-topic arguments.
If you don't know how one is related to another just say so, bow down and leave the discussion.

Good Luck & Regards
You brought up the argument, not me. LOL?
We can read Cup of Joe and make informative decisions about the game we want to buy..
Your calling the kettle black as you bought EA Subsistence your self.
I disagree about the 90 % of EA games fail.
Valheim sold millions of copies in the first of EA release and is still full on.
Valheim originally released in Early Access in February 2021, and reached 3 million sales within as many weeks. By April 2022, Iron Gate Studio's survival game has reached 10 million copies, and is still in Early Access at time of writing. In March 2023, the game released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
And thats just one of the EA games I own.
Many games I have bought Early access or not, they have been tested and are fully playable.
Rising World is a really nice game with many more additions than Subsistence.
Has filled in the missing areas we cant do in SS.
Even playing the Beta version.
I like this game play so far and want to support the devs.
Adding you can read on the Store page and what they are doing>
ABOUT THIS GAME
Important: We are currently migrating to a new engine. The store page still represents the "old" version, but if you purchase the game, you will get the new version for free of course - basically it can be considered a huge update. A first playable preview of the new version is currently available in a beta branch - please find more information about that in our forums
Your line of thinking may sound all good intentions in your head but in discussions it feels like you only have one agenda to unload you're own frustrations.
Good Luck and regards.
Hi 'Jaunitta 🌸' ,
Please re-read your own Comment that you posted to 'RISING WORLD' Discussion board..

EARLY ACCESS IS KILLING INDIE GAMES
"According to Steam's official data, as of March 2023, there are currently over 15,000 games available on Early Access. However, the success rate of Early Access games is not encouraging, as only around 6% of Early Access games are actually released as full games. This indicates that the majority of Early Access games fail to meet the expectations of players." - by Steve Fowler PhD
