Blue moon yes. Its more obvious if graphics are on ultra high sometimes it just appears like that before the new phaze starts. Dark side of the moon.
Also the blue streak in the hemisphere is bleeding into the moon.
The moon has phazes goes full moon then over a few nights it gets smaller until it disappears then starts again maybe you caught it right at the start as the first tints of morning light start.

That's usually referred to as lunar eclipse. Amazing attention to details from ColdGames!

I would put money on it being the new moon. A lunar eclipse requires daylight being darkened by the earth.

I don't think I've ever seen such a rich navy on the moon IRL :D

That isn't exactly a sciency explanation. i'm blaming the game engine / developer for what i believe is supposed to represent / be the new moon phase.
