Veggies and eggs still rotting in half a day?
The title says it all. I left the game after that update. I was wondering what the status of that is.

I'd love to see more cooking recipes, for those fish steaks maybe. While it's more or less unnecessary at all apart from the max boost, i quite like cooking and fishing in this one.

water bottles went down to a max stack of 40 in an earlier patch ( which wasnt added to the patch notes)
and nothing degrades in the fridge since i still have 50 eggs from the last update never used em never lost 1 and cbf waiting for the chickens to hatch them so i gave eggs away y keep em y not maybe another recipe will come up with eggs

Slaw
I can't speak for your fruit and Veg but I have 5 game profiles and they all degrade in my Fridges. The Screenshots should be proof enough. So I guess we just have to agree to disagree. No big deal.
As for for eggs, I have to keep raising Chickens because I need a constant supply of Premium feathers. As I use the Bow with premium arrows 99% of the time. I have between 10 and 16 chickens rotating all the time so there is an average of 25 eggs a day. The eggs get used all the time because I feed the chickens Steak and eggs. The tomato's are just for me... :)
ya i get it i just dont bother picking up the eggs tomoto soup i use for the chickens or ppl trade me feathers cause they dont use em

if you go back and read the replies on the first page you'll get a more detailed answer...

in short, the stack always displays the lowest bar in the stack... so if you have a pristine stack of something, then add a nearly rotten one to it... it will APPEAR that the entire stack is rotten... it is not... you are just seeing the rot bar for the most rotten one.

when you go out looting and bring back a nearly rotten blueberry and add it to your stack of blueberries in the fridge... the fridge stack rot meter will show the nearly rotten blueberry... the rest are perfectly fine.

so over time, as you eventually get more and more rotten blueberries... eventually the bar keeps getting lower and lower each time you add a more rotten one... nothing has rotted in the fridge, you added a rotten one into the fridge and gave yourself the false impression that stuff rots in the fridge.

again, i have a stack of 100 blueberries in my fridge right now that i set up as a test... that stack has been there for over a year in game, not even a sliver of rot on the entire stack of 100.

It is okay KS, I understand the rotting situation and what happens if you add to an existing stack, which is something I do not do. I eat or make into seeds things in the wild because I have plenty of Garden Beds and I pick only what I need and re-plant.
It is a fact that all Fruit and Veg in my Fridges are degrading slowly one at a time, in every profile game of mine but there may also be a minor glitch in the game.
As you can see I have attached a screenshot from another profile. You will see all are decaying but you will also notice I still have stacks of 100 water bottles left prior to the upgrade that reduced the number to 40. I don't know why they didn't change?
I can't really speak for your Blueberries, maybe it's just a fluke. But you did say it was over a year ago. What would happen if you take them out of the Fridge, eat a couple and put back. Will they then start to decay?

not a year ago IRL, a year in game playing 365...

i started a new profile when the update came out in the new area... i'm almost 600 days in. the first stack of blueberries i got to 100 i took the stack out and let it rot down to 99 with a full bar, then put them back in the fridge.

then i let a different stack rot to get a fresh bar, then took one of them and added it to the stack of 99 to give me a full stack of 100 with a full bar.

i haven't touched that stack at all since before my first winter, and i'm about to start my second winter with that stack of 100 still at full health.

nothing rots in the fridge.

KS,
You are among a small minority that are lucky or blessed where nothing decays in the Fridge. Not that the food rotting really matters too much to me, because it is rather slow and I have 6 Tomato beds and one each of Potato, Carrot and Onion and only pick what I need, then replant. It seems to be the right ratio. I get rid of eggs because I feed my Chickens Steak and Eggs.

I have 2 fridges one with meat ,both cooked and raw and one with fruit ,vegetables and eggs of which I have many stacks topped off and have not lost ANY to decay.

i also would like to see more cooking stuff like canned fish/meat more options to grow like fiber blue berries and straw berries and fishing stuff like more baits like minnows or rotten meat maybe a reusable lure top water for bass hell i would like this thing i call a yoyo because it looks like one. a Mechanical Fisher's Yo Yo Fishing Reels you tether it to a tree or something sturdy set the fishing hook in the water set the spring so when fish bites it it sets the hook then you come back later to see what you have caught

Another nice example. Of course cooking recipes are nice and I did the same as you Slaw, always used only bows (not always premium feathers but only bows)

As Punkerich points, cooking recipes, one of the main game features are "more or less unncesary" and their most common use is to feed the chickens (either tomato soup or steaks and their own eggs)

Do you really you consider cooking recipes and chicken demands ingame something well thought, designed and developed?

Sorry RCLAC,
It was me telling Slaw about feeding Steak and Eggs to Chickens LOL
What frustrates me most about the rotting is that you can have a stack - of berries, kelp, whatever in your inventory... left alone the top one degrades and the others in the stack reset... great, but lets say for this example that you have 2 in the stack.... if you eat one the one remaining takes on the level of the overall stack degradation. If you split one from the stack to eat or split the stack in any way... both stacks take on the same level of degradation... meaning you can't split the spoiling one and eat it thus resetting the rest.

Today I got lucky, picked up 3 apples but by I got the second one the first was already 2/3 degraded, I picked up a second, fresh apple... and a third... the stack was 2/3 degraded... I ate one... still the stack was 2/3 degraded - split the remaining 2... both 2/3 degraded.... the original apple dictates the level of degradation...

Currently the only way to avoid this is put your new apple or blueberry from loot chest into separate inventory slots and not use the "take all" option. However, when picking blueberries from the ground, kelp, onions, potatoes and carrots from the wild, there is no way of controlling them being placed in a separate slot so they stack with existing partially degraded fruit and veg of the same kind. Neither of these options is either logical or IMO an appropriate mechanic. I will be very disappointed if this continues to go unaddressed.
I have mentioned this before as well. When I kill game I put the meat into separate slots so I will eat the oldest piece of meat first, like you said you can't do this with veggies when you pick them. Unless I'm close to my base I don't even worry about trying to get the meat and veggies back before they rot I just kill and eat on the go while running around the map. Newer players won't have unlimited ammo like us older players do so I can see it being a bigger problem for them.
