Keep your camp fire/wooden stove buring at all times or make extra ones.... Also you plants will go with just water but slower ;-)

If you attack hunter camps or the rogue camps, their campfires typically have over 100 ash in them.

I have 4 furnaces a 1 animal coop producting fertilizer at any given time. This produces enough to typically run 5 plant beds consistently if I have enough animals in the coop.

So far I just raid hunter camps--since they seem to love establishing bases right next door to me--and their eternal fires always have lots of ash. I keep my furnace running constantly, too.

I think the plants are a little too hungry, but I guess that's the price you pay for growing cotton in a few days instead of an entire season, like real life.

It's more economical and faster to have several plant beds and runt them without fertiliser then start burning wood/fuel bricks just to get ash. Plants still grow without fertiliser, takes about double time so if you just make another planter you are making same amount. The benefit of this is that you better can manage what you are growing.

Personally I have up to 6 planters (normally only 4), never use lights, fertiliser only when I got some and sometimes I slash some water on them. That way I allays have everything I need without any micromanaging and without using electricity.

what in the world do you do with 5 plant beds? I only have one and two sets of heavy clothing, couches, arm chairs, and stacks of uneaten tomatoes and eggs.
