Chickens disappeared when going free range
I upgraded my animal housing to be free range and now my chickens are gone, as in both from the housing and they are not anywhere around on the ground as far as I can see. Also when I uncheck free range, they don't come back to the housing, but no matter what they continue generating feces and also consuming food/water. Is this how it's supposed to work? How do I get the chickens back into the housing so I can see them and kill them when necessary? The housing still says I have 3 animals (which is how many chickens I put in).

I built my base on a pond, and the housing is on the edge of it, if that makes a difference...

I've never experienced this, myself. I HAVE heard of it, though. If this is a continuous thing, try verifying your game cache. Random glitches are not unusual...for some. I've been lucky.

They are most likely stuck on a building
Uncheck free range before you end game
Next time you log in they will be in the coop
In short, set to non free range....then restart game

aliens take some now n then-
although, with their advanced space BCU they can make an excellent buffalo wings sauce, they are still unable to successfully raise chickens in the atmosphere of space.

Is the housing too close to your base wall or other objects, or under a foundation? I discovered if the chickens and rabbits can't access the housing, they seem to wander off. I once had a chicken and rabbit run off together. I had the housing under the base platform at the time. After I moved the housing out from under the platform and made sure all four sides of the animal housing were clear, my animals stopped disappearing.

Thanks for your guys help. Next time I play I will do the thing where I uncheck free range and restart, and then I will try moving my housing around as suggested. Thanks!

I had exactly the same... they didn't disappear... I found my chickens a few hundred meters away from my base. I think it has something to do with the range of the BCU and the position of the coop.
