collecting wood
please can we have it so that when chopping trees the wood goes straight into your inventory its a pain having to chop then pickup epecially if your wanting collect wood to build before being killed by an animal which i will say are way too hard you dont get chance to reload or anything. I also think e should be the button to pickup im forever looking for the f key as so many games use the e key for the pickup command.

You can change the keybinding in options. I am not a fan of wood going directly into your inventory. I like this game because it makes me have to be aware of what is around me the extra time it takes to pick up the wood just adds to the thrill for me.

thats ok if you dont mind the amount of animals just sneaking up on you before you even play a few mins of the game. I think the amount of animals will put a lot off from enjoying this especially as a single player.

its a survival for a reasson... if there isnt any risk with go around, no animals, all automatic then this is just a walking simulater, there are a couple out already go try them out u dont need any skill on that games

First thing I did when I started was change my keybinds and animals dont ''Just'' sneak up on you, they have a radius awareness sound when you are close. The moment I hear the bear of wolf I know that I have a few seconds to run the oppisite direction or head for my home

I am aware it is a survival thank you for your input i was basically saying that i felt for a single player there was too many animals the amount would be great as a multiplayer. also did i say i didnt want animals erm let me re read my statment oh look no i didnt maybe you need to accept other peoples thoughts rather than just your own.

This is why the anonimity of forums are ruining humanity. People can't have a calm rational discussion without getting their panties in a bunch.

You said you didn't want to pick up wood because animals will/may attack you.

This means one, and only one thing. You don't pay attention to your surroundings very well as you run up to a tree to get wood. If there is a wolf or a bear nearby? Don't chop a tree... it's that simple. Head in the opposite direction and chop another tree. There are many trees -- and they respawn wood each day.

You can chop a tree with a bear/wolf within visual range and they will not attack you. Every bear and wolf currently has an awarenes circle around it, you enter that circle it alerts (wolves growl, bears huff and stand up to look around). You have a few seconds to get away before they come after you.

It honestly is just you either not using sound and aren't picking up on the cues from the two types of animals, or not looking around you as you walk through the map to gather things.

I only play single player, and tbh I don't think there are too many animals. As others have said this is a survival game, not a builder game. Don't get me wrong I am far from op, i have probably died more than yourself. But it's about learning How to survive, crouch, listen more intently than in other games, back off from crates if there is an animal near (you have to viligantly look for them, the animals) even if it's the only crate you have seen for a long time (which is what I am experiencing). I'm not trying to be mean, just to let you know I am a solo player, and even though I find it frustrating at times, I know it has to do with me, not the game in most cases. Also, a lot of people also don't like it that the wood doesn't auto pop into your inventory, and yes it can be bothersome. But really, when chopping wood in rl does it ever jump into your pockets? In other games I am the first to want it to go into my inventory.... in this survival game, it would just feel wrong for the immersion aspect.

The falling logs was a conscious design choice to maintain a particular pace to the game. That's not to say it won't change in time. I'll certainly take your feedback onboard.

Lots of things will change as the project moves forward. Thanks for posting.

I love having to collect the pieces of wood, sets it apart from other survival games where you just run tree to tree.

Personally, I would like to see the wood be automatically placed into our inventory the same as mining Nodes of ore does. My reasoning is the constant abuse I'm putting on my keyboard hammering the "F" key to catch the wood pieces as they fly off the trees. I like my keyboard and would not want to have to replace it due to one key being messed up....just a thought.

You know the simple answer to this is give players the options to play the way they like. Play hard core, play casual. Don't alienate players for their personal play choice. Might even translate into more players supporting the game and recommending it to friends

The wood is perfect imo. Nothing like chopping away and having to look down to pick the wood up only to get slapped by a bear that heard you. I also like that the trees dont fall over as it causes nothing but issue's once mp is introduced

NOOOO. ColdGames please do NOT make this game easy. When I go outside to chop wood, the wood doesn't just get split and stacked, I have to pick up the pieces and stack them. If you make the game easy for those FEW who complain, it takes away the realism that the mass majority of us WANT. As to only using the F key for picking up the wood, well I don't spam the F key while chopping, I just look down and then click it 3,4 or 6 times to pick up the wood. And for those who do, you can always remap the key to another one.

I say make a poll if this is just a big issue and well...if the majority says auto pick up, then you know the majority wins.

I'm fine with the way wood is harvested.

It actually becomes much less of a problem as you develop your in-game situational awareness and become adept at time and risk management.
