it's now possible to travel from the east lake to the west without being on the surface at all.
the maps of the original cave systems hasn't changed aside from adding in the short tunnel systems that now lead to the lava section.
both original zones divided into two sections, each section has a rouge group and a bat that spawns into their respective zones.
so if you want to go from one lake to the next, you need to travel through 2 sets of rouges and bats, then the lava caves, then 2 more sets of rouges and bats before you get to the other cave entrance/exit.
the easiest cave system to navigate in my opinion is the cave system under the east lake, the division between zone 1 and zone 2 are easy to spot... because the zones are separated from each other by the set of lava tubes/tunnels you have to go through to get to the other half of the system.
room 1 of the east lake system is a large diamond shaped room the gradually slops downhill to a pool that leads you to the lava tube/tunnels.
room 2 in the east system is more of a flat disk shaped room with the entrance to the lava zone on the left side of the room (before you get to the mysterious fenced off golden cave).
the west lake system is a bit harder to navigate... it's divided by the area where there is a large slanted flat green rock leaning up against the wall.
room 1 in the west system is a big disk (similar to room 2 on the east lake system)
room 2 in the west system is a giant circular tunnel which no matter what direction you go you always wind up running around in a big circle back to the green slanted rock.
lastly the lava caves section should be thought of as a bowl shaped room that runs around that huge lava pool in the center with long rooms that connect that bowl shaped room to the original cave sections.
the long rooms are across the bowl from each other... so if you want to cross the lava section, you need to just run tot he other side of the large bowl shaped room and you should be able to find the other tunnel section.
to fully "settle" in the cave system you should start by building a shack at the entrance pool of each system ( a safe spot to defend against cave rouges) and at least one platform with a chest at the entrances of the lava cave section on both sides (where you can store protein bars, fruits, water bottles, etc...)
i also built a platform and crate in the bowl shaped room to help me easier locate the tunnels from the lava room.
the caves are deceiving, when you first make it down there they seem way bigger than they actually are.
but like you said... they are small and easy to navigate as soon as you figure out your bearings.
i remember back to my first time into the west lake system, i wound up traveling around that back "doughnut" section more times than i care to admit before i noticed the big green slanted rock was repeating.
you're right its easy, the caves are small and no need map,,
In this case the description of the caves does not help me to navigate through them. I admit that I have limited orientation skills, if you know the layout that well. Instead of a map or basic information, perhaps a directional guide would be more helpful, something like: Once at the bottom of the climbing wall go to to room 1 by walking North or South or whatever, then it becomes easier to simply walk in the opposite direction to get back to the starting point. Now that would be helpful, at least to me.
Entry Level - from the pool you move up and left. There is a small corridor on the right not too far from the entry pool. Keep hugging the left side to get to the middle.
Middle - The middle is very easily verified by the large slanted rock that leans against the cave wall. From here, the cave makes a big loop in either direction. The lava caves are accessed at the back of this large loop.
I need some help with the East Lake cave cuz I can't seem to do anything but run into dead ends.
To make a statement like that is not very helpful, and I will take it as your opinion but it does
not take into consideration that my orientation skills are crap and that help or hints, to give and receive is the reason I am on this Forum.
