Report a translation problem
I see quite many people placing their grow beds inside full glass houses, but i don't remember anyone putting their solar panels inside similarly closed glass structure. Perhaps the following explains why; partial sunlight loss for a grow bed is not exactly a tragedy, plants will still grow if a bit slower, but losing significant fraction of solar output is like quite painful thing to deal with.
I've tried that very long time ago, and if memory serves back then i had a portion of sunlight blocked by glass. It could be something else affected it - in theory. But since then, i decided i'd rather not risk it and since then often put sunlight-needin' things under open sky. If need be, with walls placed on top of same floor / level but always 1+ full ceiling piece away from any sunlight-needin' equipment. This already protects them just fine unless i'd build in some low place with high ground nearby, from which some hunters could see "into" the floor from high location, but since i never do such a strange thing, the solution suffices for me at all times.
Also it may well be my habit to add 1+ ceiling of horizontal space is not anyhow useful, too. I remember someone tested it and found it's only matters if the panel's "base" point - the middle of its "leg" - is directly under any sun-blocking piece, or not. If not, full output. If yes, no output. Again this was fairly long while ago, though.
Plant beds need direct light!
Therefore you can also set up solar panels in the underwater caves, and in closed rooms. As for the wind turbines, you can find out for yourself.
If you don't believe me, you can test it yourself. Build a windowless room, set up a solar panel. It ONLY depends on the time of day and the weather.
I wish all of you casual gamers would finally stop consuming games and start playing games. Because then you would all have revealed many more secrets of subsistence.
Here some examples:
You can easily water 40 to 80 plants in a few minutes without having to boil water or walking back and forth to get water. Except in winter.
Without exception, ANY aggressive wild animal can be arrested and killed with an ax without suffering any harm. Cougars, however, are a bit more difficult, but still fixable and killable with an ax. (By the way, this is definitely an exploit in my opinion).
You can cut 400 to 500 pieces of wood in just one day with ease, all you have to do is find the right place.
When I need fibers, I use a certain route that I follow and after one lap I have 40 to 60 fibers. At the end of the day I collect around 80-100 fibers. Then there are about 60 to 100 nails, 15 to 22 blueberries and many other things that I collect on the side. And you don't need a cheat for that, nor do you have to use the save and load exploit!
I fish TARGETED 1-2 bass every day, you just have to know when and where.
But I'll do the devil and reveal how it works. Cold Games is a genius who has built hidden clues for you throughout the game. You just have to follow the path the game suggests. For me, Subsistence is the only game in a long time that has earned the title Survival. Nothing is given to you, you have to invest time for each goal and that's a good thing. There are far too many games that are so easy that I get bored quickly. But not in subsistence. Here you have to keep your eyes and ears wide open and use more than 1% of your brain capacity to be successful in this game.

How is this one true? I never seen any gamer - casual or not, - anyhow "consuming" a game. We gamers are human (so far, at least, i'm not counting Leela here, she's far from being a "gamer" imo). And humans don't eat - or anyhow else "consume" - games. In no sense, direct or metaphorical. It happens at times that games consume gamers, yes, that happens alright. But not the other way around! :P
Another untrue. You either lie or are being mistaken about that "except in winter" part. I can easily water 40 to 80 plants in winter "in a few minutes". Heck, i can do it in under a minute, even. Total easy: 10 grow beds close to each other (my current base has 9 placed in such a way i can reach them all with barely a second of moving from any one to any other one), and you shift-click to water them while having 40+ bottled water in your inventory. Which bottled water you can mass-produce by having your drill running for some time. And winter has nothing to do with it. If one needs to water them in winter - for whatever reason - one surely can.
Now you advocate exploits pal. But above you wished for casual gamers to "play" games. Hint: exploiting exploits is NOT about "playing" a game. It's about breaking it. Another "true" part of your post, eh? =)
So much "true" in the wish for us all to have fun figuring out things! Especially this one particular thing - i mean how to catch a 1-2 bass every day. I mean, we all gonna be utterly depressed and sad and mad and restless until we figure a way to catch 1-2 bass a day!

Nice try my dear friend, but it's just an attempt. I'm too old to be irritated by polemics and defamation and on top of that to go into it.
As I mentioned before, everything I have written is true. Why I keep silent about all of this is explained quite simply.
Cold Games came up with a brilliant yet very simple concept and implemented it. He put a lot of effort into creating a game with long-term motivation and a lot of depth. I respect this man deeply, because he sticks to his concept and does not let himself be dissuaded by constant moaning from implementing the game he is imagining. He remains silent and reveals very little about the game.
If I were to explain in detail how I do everything I wrote in my previous post, I would not only take away the fun of the game for many people here, but also spoil the hard work that Cold Games has done.
For a long time now I have really enjoyed a game that not only challenges all of my senses, but also encourages them! I play Subsistence for about a month, at least I think. Since then I've restarted the game a dozen times and always found something new because I let my curiosity run wild. I test, watch and listen to the game to understand. But I do this purely intuitively and not on purpose. In short, I just play the game and learn the rules.
Granted, Cold Games didn't create a new genre of games here, but he revived the existing one in a different way.
Long story short:
If you are keen to try things out in Subsitence, you will find many solutions to certain problems.
My dear Fins, here is an example for you:
Chopping wood can be very annoying, so you have to find a way to optimize or even simplify logging. Everyone who felled trees in Subsistence should know that there are 5 types of trees and that every felled tree will grow back the next morning at the latest.
1. The very thin give 1 wood
2. The small spruces give 3 pieces of wood
3. The large spruce, beech and other deciduous trees give 4 wood
4. The old oaks? Give 6 wood
Now you have to think logically and weigh up. It is known that the oaks are only sporadic, and the small spruces are not worthwhile because they can only be found in small groups. So you have to explore the area and find a place that has a lot of trees. This place exists and exactly the trees you need grow there. They are relatively close together so that the trees can be felled in a row one after the other.
Why the 4 trees? Because they are much more common in large numbers, they give 4 wood and you get 1 additional board with every third tree felled.
Now there is one more factor: timer
Every tree has a timer until it can be felled again. Now you just have to know how long this timer is. I took the trouble and determined the time to respawn.
Now you have to combine all the information and you can roughly estimate how many trees you can cut in the time until you can return to the first tree.
I used this method to do a test in the time between my last posting and this post. I came up with 614 wood. I started before dawn and finished the logging when it was night. The first tree I felled when the test began, I was able to fell 3 times during this time.
And how did I come up with this idea? When I played Subsitence and stepped out of my wood outpost in front of the door where there was a tree, and noticed that I could fell it again on the same day, I knew that I could collect wood faster than just once per tree per day.
That might sound a bit scientific, but it isn't. It's an in-game experience I had by chance while playing the game. And that's exactly how I found out the other things I described in my last post.

As I recall, glass panels do impact the amount of light the beds would get if you build a greenhouse. At present, winter does not affect the grow beds, so, there is no real reason to implement a greenhouse.
This may change with future updates where a greenhouse would be necessary to grow the plants.
There are many peeps that are knowledgeable but one of the best guys in the community for this stuff is Akeel. Maybe he would be kind enough to chime in.
