This game is far to unbalanced, it is really stupid really
crazy unbalanced horribly developed game. You cannot get anywhere in this game, the NPC hunters have unlimited ammo and shoot as fast as they can while your using a bow, no chance at all. Because they have unlimited ammo you can't even try to compete with guns because ammo is scarce for you. This is the most unbalanced alpha i have ever played. I have 6 hunters bases in a circle around me and can't do crap because of it. BTW, talk about unbalanced. You can't have grenades, but they can. The keep destroying my walls with grenades. What a joke - And do'n't say i can have grenages, yea, if i want to spend all my gun powder and have no ammo for my crap pistol.
This game is very unbalanced and a joke really. I do not even have it on hard and can't get anywhere in this game. The Hunters are far to hard , and i am 60 days into it. I can't even make arrows any more because i am forced to use nails to repair the attacks on my base. It should not cost nails to make arrows, use scrap metal - THAT makes more sense.
I can't build anything because it requires Sinew which after opening 15 locked chests i have gotten only 2, And if i can't beat a hunter with that crap pistol, how am i going to beat a Cougar?
I guantee you that 80% if gamers who eventually buy this game, will move on. It is FAR TOO unbalanced. This game was only $12 , but probably the worst survival alpha i have ever played, too bad, it has potential.

You I can take out a cougar with just a bow.

You can turn off or set the hunters to make it easy on you.

You cannot have "6" hunter bases around you.

Max number of hunter (base-building) squads: 2 Easy, 3 Normal, Hardcore & 4 Co-op (with a max of 3 per targeted base).
Max rogue squads on the map at one time: 2 Easy, 3 Normal, 4 Hardcore & Co-op

I do think ColdGames needs to have the hunters have progression like we have as in not having high lvl weapons until after their bases are built up.

I love taking on the hunters with nothing but a bow (and lots of bandages and med kits as well)

So turn hunter attacks off, problem solved.
80% of gamers move on eventually in any game they buy.
If you cant beat a hunter with that crap pistol, learn to shoot accurately.
I have looked at several of your posts about this game and in all honesty the majority of what you say is either wrong or just comes down to you being bad at this game.

The game is supposed to be fun, entertaining, a way to pass some free time. It sisn't supposed to be unbalanced. And yea, 3 hunters ripping you to shreds with bullets and you take the time to aim and your dead before you pull the trigger. As an Alpha, it is my duty to let Devs know the game has issues. Not everyone out there is an ACE gamer. Games have to be designed to keep everyone happy, not just the guys with no life who spend 8 houors a day playing it.

Now your going to get it! Lol
All I can suggest is turning hunters off until you get yourself more established and familiar with the game.
I do how agree that some balancing is needed.

It is designed for everyone. Set the game to "easy" difficulty, that will reduce the amount of hunters, rogues, hunter bases, and animals. Turn the hunters attacks off, that will stop them from attacking your base giving you the option to decide when to fight hunters.
With the struggles you have mentioned in previous posts i would suggest that you start a new profile on easy with hunters turned off. Once you have your base built, the better guns, a decent stockpile of ammo, heavy clothes, helmet, vest, and whatever else you want then you can change things.
At any point you can change from easy to normal without losing your save. At any point you can turn hunters on and change their attacks without losing your save.
If you change those settings and get in a tough spot, you can change them back to whatever you want without losing your save.
With all those options that you have that wont cause you to lose your save, i dont know what else could be done to make the game for everybody.
Or you can just change the settings on your current profile if you dont want to start over.
Turn the hunters off and they will be gone when you load your current save.

Day 60 and only have a bow and pistol? Not good. Here's an old tip I learned back in the early days. Build your BCU and wait for the 3 camps to spawn. Once they do, MOVE YOUR BASE to a place futher away. And make a shotgun and hide behind trees, when they approach, boom.I get the frustration, but don't give up. It's too good of a game. Just expect it to be hard when starting off fresh.

This post is proof that no matter what the dev does they are screwed. We had posts identical to this before the patch that gave us options to customize the hunter experience and voila....we still have guys like this complaining about the hunters. No way to win I'm afraid.

And people wonder why Dev's don't like forums....
While i don't agree, i CAN understand why some ignore the forums
completely. I would also guess, most of the complainers would react
badly if someone tried to tell THEM how to do there job. If they even
had one.... Like ever...

to be fair , i sort of agree, i had a hunter , first day on map had unlimitied Rifle ammo (btw, how did he get rifle first day with no base ?), and all ammunition, that really does not seem right, they should start off the same as us, few arrows, maybe pistol, Hunter ammunition needs limiting, it takes a lot of supplies for us to make, but limitless for them, dont seem right.
So , everyone is gonna say, turn hunters off, but they are part of the game, so they should be on. The game is screaming out for some balancing, hope Coldgames listens.....

i brought the game a couple of weeks ago, as I worked out pretty quickly it was a hard game (for me on normal mode) I decided to look at the settings, initially i turned hunters off, then played on, died a couple of times to animals - it happens :D

Anyway once I got my base to a place I felt a bit more comfortable - 19 or so game days in, i turned hunters on but set them only to retalliate attacks.

I am now around 50 days in, killed multiple hunters, slowly upgrading my base with alloy walls since I have already done the doors etc. Loving the game so far.

Have only had the one lock pick which I already used and have not made another yet, so far tho i got my planter boxes going with tomatoes and cotton - oh so slowly on the cotton tho, and have been hunting the bears that spawn on my little peninsula of land where I made my base...

Slowly getting my base worked out and dealing with the occasional hunter retaliation - usually after I have shot them when i ran across their base etc. Alternatively there are 2 hunter bases I actually avoid now they are further away and one I intend to kill all of them and destroy their base eventually cos I feel they are too close :D

Total noob at the game, totally loving it and thank you to cold games for giving us the options to turn on and turn off things as we desire :)

For the OP - I don't play 8 hours a day etc I have a real job far more demanding :)
The takeaway from this little diatribe for you IMHO is don't despair or give up, use the various game modes / settings to set the game to a level suitable for you without losing your save...

I'm currently on easy / retal hunters and that is working for me.

You could try minecraft :partygoblin:

This isn't minecraft :D and honesty minecraft does nothing for me as such even though to be fair I never even installed / played it... for me it just is not my sorta game - due to the blocky graphics really no visual immersion there for me

For me, the beauty of this game lies in the difficulty of doing things. Of course the game could be better balanced, but it's not so bad at this level that the boys are talking about.

I enjoyed the heck out of this game right up until the last update. I was even starting to play with hunters on (easy setting). I put many MANY hours into the game. THe mega fortress patch however kinda destroyed the game for me with hunters on. I played easy setting because 2 hunters was challenging in an attack but I had a snowballs chance in hades of surviving it. With the mega update on easy now not only can I have 4 hunters attack at once, one of the bases changes locations. It is too much for me. Back to hunters off game which will only hold my attention now for a few hours a month.

I consider the small investment in the game worth it. I got many hours of fun out of it. I am also watching carefully to see if we actually get the granularity in settings for the hunters CG mentioned last month. If we do the game might well become interesting again.

I put my base in the middle of the lake, now it has been much easier to deal with the hunters. They are very annoying
