also players: please bring back the exploits
I personally had a great deal of fun learning various small bits and pieces of game code, adjusting items to suit my need and play style for that gaming session. Without even knowing it, C.G. got me interested in game code through Subsistence and I had a great deal of fun tweaking the old file (prior to 29 March 2020).
Cold Games, would you pls consider reverting back to the old .save file system?
This was also a lot more recent than March, so I imagine there is a way around whatever CG did.
This guy claimed to have implemented the exploit into his game files a long time ago and he forgot about it supposedly. But he always wants to host .... my guess is so he can cheat. Really lame. When it affects others unknowingly, these exploits suck.
There is where your own responsibility comes into play. Don't like the way he plays, either don't play with him or insist to play only when you host. If you are playing in someone else's server, you are playing by their rules and if that world belongs to them you can't very well tell them how to play in their world. Single player players who play that way should not have to take flack because others can't take responsibility for their own part in a game's experience.
I'm not one bit interested in this, it's buggy, causes lag in games (from what I've read) and not reliable.
I'm 110% with Azhockeynut, I loved being able to adjust game play to suit my play style for the current gaming session I intended to play. Encrypting the .save file ruined this simple feature. I've played Subsistence to endgame w/o modifying the file. I sought out and discovered a new way to play the game and it brought a new found experience to Subsistence...it was like having a new game, but playing by my rules, the way I wanted to play.
I implore Cold Games to consider un-encrypting the .sav file to the older version which was saved prior to 29 March 2020. There is Zero harm in a solo player modifying / adjusting game play to suit his/her play style. If people playing multi/co-op figure out how to modify the file, then don't play with them, simple stuff. Call them out and leave the game. But us solo players no harm is done to anyone and others shouldn't be concerned how we play.
I love the challenge this game presents, but some sort of option(even file editing) would be great just to relax and play around. Awesome game btw.
Same applies for the game overall. The dev decides what to do with the game. You can't tell them to open the exploit for you. The game belongs to them...
It is simple. Single players are the main target for this game and always have been. This, as well as a creative mod, has been asked for repeatedly by single players. If you want to target a game to a market, it is in your best interest to listen to that market. So, while the game belongs to them, you will not sell near as many copies if you ignore the market you are targeting while other devs are listening and giving them the kind of games they want to play and the ability to play those games the way they want.
I really wish people that want to control others lives would fall off the edge of the obviously flat Earth (that was sarcasm).
But, yes, modding would be great but I really doubt will ever happen. And, there are other games that have modding in place prior to release, especially for as long as this game has been out in EA. One very popular game I have and play is Satisfactory. Even the Experimental builds are pretty stable with the mods players have done. Another is Empyrion.
i also hatted how u had to re-lie on the dice roll to get stuff. (i have bad luck in and out of game when this is a thing. ) half the time there be more things out there to get. like wild tomato plants and far more option to to find a scattered cotton plants.
dont get me wrong i do think its wrong to be able to make weapons like u are able to IE pistol/ shotty/ sniper bomb arrows out of nowhere and just a work bench...
at best this should be items u find in hunter camps and or on hunters/ chests
and making fish traps u should be able to get far more fruit for ur labor for what u are doing. i can remember making such a thing. (not the one in the game its more surivial based in nit-ting around branchs to make a fish trap. with that we easily gotten atlest 5 fish more more.. at times none when they know u are there...
