UNENCRYPT the Save File Please C.G.
Please undo the encryption to what it used to be prior to 29 March 2020. For off line single players such as myself, there was no harm / no foul in users being able to modify certain game files to suit our personal play style. I'm sure I'm not alone in making this request. TY

Other people shouldn't care one bit how others play Subsistence. If you didn't like to modify the .save file....then Don't, just play the game for what it is. However, there's some of us who figured out how to do so, and we had fun with it. If it's not for you, then don't worry about someone else's game play, it's just none of anyone else's business or concern to even voice an opinion.

I personally had a great deal of fun learning various small bits and pieces of game code, adjusting items to suit my need and play style for that gaming session. Without even knowing it, C.G. got me interested in game code through Subsistence and I had a great deal of fun tweaking the old file (prior to 29 March 2020).

Cold Games, would you pls consider reverting back to the old .save file system?

I played this with someone who did just that without telling me. He used an exploit that gave him a lot of loot - so much so, it was hard for him to manage it all without giving it away that he was exploiting the game. It made me mad.

This was also a lot more recent than March, so I imagine there is a way around whatever CG did.

This guy claimed to have implemented the exploit into his game files a long time ago and he forgot about it supposedly. But he always wants to host .... my guess is so he can cheat. Really lame. When it affects others unknowingly, these exploits suck.

There is where your own responsibility comes into play. Don't like the way he plays, either don't play with him or insist to play only when you host. If you are playing in someone else's server, you are playing by their rules and if that world belongs to them you can't very well tell them how to play in their world. Single player players who play that way should not have to take flack because others can't take responsibility for their own part in a game's experience.

I loved being able to adjust things myself and i don't play online or co-op with others so it took away a lot of the fun in the game for me

@lethallady: He more likely than not, downloaded a program called Cheat Engine, it's a third party program that allows you to increase/modify inventory, health, life, etc in almost any game.
I'm not one bit interested in this, it's buggy, causes lag in games (from what I've read) and not reliable.

I'm 110% with Azhockeynut, I loved being able to adjust game play to suit my play style for the current gaming session I intended to play. Encrypting the .save file ruined this simple feature. I've played Subsistence to endgame w/o modifying the file. I sought out and discovered a new way to play the game and it brought a new found experience to Subsistence...it was like having a new game, but playing by my rules, the way I wanted to play.

I implore Cold Games to consider un-encrypting the .sav file to the older version which was saved prior to 29 March 2020. There is Zero harm in a solo player modifying / adjusting game play to suit his/her play style. If people playing multi/co-op figure out how to modify the file, then don't play with them, simple stuff. Call them out and leave the game. But us solo players no harm is done to anyone and others shouldn't be concerned how we play.

A "Creative Mode" would be nice. I can grind with the best of you guy's, but sometimes I just like to kick back & build. Plus if you play online, you'll see the host is in creative mode so no surprises for people who join.

I love the challenge this game presents, but some sort of option(even file editing) would be great just to relax and play around. Awesome game btw.

Same applies for the game overall. The dev decides what to do with the game. You can't tell them to open the exploit for you. The game belongs to them...

It is simple. Single players are the main target for this game and always have been. This, as well as a creative mod, has been asked for repeatedly by single players. If you want to target a game to a market, it is in your best interest to listen to that market. So, while the game belongs to them, you will not sell near as many copies if you ignore the market you are targeting while other devs are listening and giving them the kind of games they want to play and the ability to play those games the way they want.

In an SP game I fail to see how changing anything is an "exploit".

Encrypting...or encoding...the save (haven't bothered to figure out which) was unnecessary IMO. You couldn't mess with it in MP unless you hosted the game in which case it makes sense to be able to mess with it. In SP who the f- gives a damn if a person playing SP messes with it? It can't possibly affect anyone other than the person playing hence shouldn't be anyone's business any more than what deviant things you do in your bedroom alone or with another consenting adult.

I really wish people that want to control others lives would fall off the edge of the obviously flat Earth (that was sarcasm).

I'm in favor of modding the game officially. Messing with encrypted files is not the way to do it. Modding tools are usually considered after early access.

Well before this last update it was NOT encrypted. Even if it's only encoded I just don't have the time to play around with it any more.

But, yes, modding would be great but I really doubt will ever happen. And, there are other games that have modding in place prior to release, especially for as long as this game has been out in EA. One very popular game I have and play is Satisfactory. Even the Experimental builds are pretty stable with the mods players have done. Another is Empyrion.

thats one of the biggist things that caused me not to buy the game, i would love to see true moding support where u can add things to the game, change crafting around and alot of other things. i do injoy watching lets play of this BUT i cant be-leave how badly things spawn or not at all like cotton and the over USE of NEEDING BOODY nails. 1 nails should never been needed to make arrows. i used arrows and crafted them in scouts. (before they because f'ed up) we made stone arrow and wooden arrows. no need for all this crap (nails) and ontop of it to make the shelter i know in the older days they never once used nails instead they would use wodden plugs/ or rope things) also in some areas they also pre-cut the walls and roof and other thing to match each other so they would never need nails. (i watched many how toos on thi part) and making nails u get far to little for what you put into it. when u see the scrap u pick up u should be easily able to make 20+++ nails out of that for how thin they look.

i also hatted how u had to re-lie on the dice roll to get stuff. (i have bad luck in and out of game when this is a thing. ) half the time there be more things out there to get. like wild tomato plants and far more option to to find a scattered cotton plants.

dont get me wrong i do think its wrong to be able to make weapons like u are able to IE pistol/ shotty/ sniper bomb arrows out of nowhere and just a work bench...
at best this should be items u find in hunter camps and or on hunters/ chests

and making fish traps u should be able to get far more fruit for ur labor for what u are doing. i can remember making such a thing. (not the one in the game its more surivial based in nit-ting around branchs to make a fish trap. with that we easily gotten atlest 5 fish more more.. at times none when they know u are there...
